St. Denis Medical "A Peanut and Caramel-Filled Miracle"/"Ho-Ho-Hollo"

It's that wonderful time of year for some laughter! Let’s look at episodes five and six of St. Denis Medical!

"A Peanut and Caramel-Filled Miracle"

After this episode, I may need to stock up on Reese's Outrageous bars myself.

Things start with a playoff feud when Bruce discovers Ron is willing to pay top dollar for the last candy bar in the vending machine. Instead of handing it over, Bruce grabs all the Reese's bars and stacks them into a makeshift footstool. Naturally, Ron retaliates in the O.R., messing with Bruce's surgical playlist. But the episode ends on a touching note when the two doctors must team up to save a patient's life, proving that even the prettiest rivalry can be put aside for something bigger.

Elsewhere, Alex is tasked with a difficult order from Joyce: she must let go of Nurse Debbie. Joyce offers to help her prepare for the awkward conversation, even role-playing the moment with her. But when the time comes, Joyce does it herself, with calm compassion and clarity.

Meanwhile, Matt relies on this episode to subtly seek recognition. After saving a patient's life, he looks for appreciation from the patient, their family, and others. Sadly, even his mother dismisses the moment. When he eventually confronts the patient outside, the man gives him a dismissive remark. Thankfully, Serena provides Matt with a heartfelt thank you that resonates more than he anticipated.

"A Peanut and Caramel-Filled Miracle" brought a delightful mix of humor and heart. It featured the candy bar battles between Ron and Bruce, along with Alex navigating the tough situation of letting a nurse go, and Matt's quiet desire to feel appreciated with a simple "thank you." Overall, I truly enjoyed this episode and would rate it a 9/10!

"Ho-Ho-Hollo"

It's the Christmas season at St. Denis Medical, and there's a warm, fuzzy feeling!

Matt and Bruce try to help a patient remove a stuck ring. Bruce, naturally, suggests using his katana sword (no, really!). Thankfully, backup arrives in the form of firefighters, and not only is the ring safely removed, but the patient uses the moment to propose to his girlfriend.

Joyce, ever the hospital administrator, becomes obsessed with catching up to Portland General's viral social media presence. With Serena's help, she attempts to create the perfect online content. They fumble a few moments, missing an emotional scene where a child hears his mother's voice for the first time, but ultimately produce a charming, chaotic lip-sync video that captures the hospital's spirit.

Alex and Ron deal with a thornier issue when a patient fakes cancer just to spend time with his family. As they press him to be honest with his family, and maybe come clean about the GoFundMe, Ron reveals that he's planning to spend Christmas alone. Alex invites him to join her family in a sweet moment, and he gratefully accepts.

"Ho-Ho-Hollo" was an absolutely delightful holiday episode, brimming with humor and heartfelt moments. There was so much good-natured awkwardness as Bruce navigated the ring situation, along with Joyce and Serena's amusing social media escapades. Plus, Alex’s sincere invitation to Ron for a family holiday dinner brought unexpected warmth to the story. All in all, I’d rate this charming episode a wonderful 9 out of 10!
