On Thursday the television critics got a sneak peek of the latest "X-Files" clip in Beverly Hills for the press tour.
As reported by Lori Rackl of tvtrippin.com, the clip showed a scene that was heated between "FBI special agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duhovny)."
Rackl added that the clip showed "a frantic Scully pulls up to a house at night. Mulder meets her on the front porch. They're clearly not a couple anymore. She refers to herself as his friend and physician. Mulder launches into a speech about how they've been deceived for years and he's 'finally figured it out.' He says that Tad O'Malley-a conservative internet newscaster played by Joel McHale-is right in his belief that 'this is not an alien conspiracy. Scully tires to talk him down, warning that his beliefs could be his undoing."
But there was no punch line at the end, but "a glimpse of a new character: alien-abduction victim Sveta, played by Annet Mahendru from 'The Americans.' She's looming in the background, behind the home's screen door."
"'She's the key to everything,' Mulder tells what appears to be a crestfallen Scully. 'Sveta is the Key.'"
And if that wasn't enough, that heated scene probably do to that both Mulder and Scully have "broken up" as Entertainment Weekly reported. As they said that Scully is only a "friend and his physician."
So I guess we'll have to wait and see how this will play out. I think it's a smart move creative wise, you have to change something between these two and breaking up might seem the best bet.
You can catch the season premiere of "The X-Files" is in January.
