The Return of Kimmy & Co.: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: "Kimmy Goes Roller Skating"/Kimmy Goes on a Playdate"

It was last year's best new satire. We can reenact the fist pump freeze frame from The Breakfast Club as Season Two of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is now available on Netflix.

"Kimmy Goes Roller Skating"

In the first episode of the season, we come to a Christmas party with everyone from Kimmy, Titus, Jacqueline, and even Mini. But soon, an incident comes, and we go back three months to where we follow our beloved characters.

Kimmy tries to move on after Dong gets married. Lillian tries to cheer her up with a skating party and goes to the store for some stuff, and who just so happens to be there...Dong. Kimmy and Dong talk for a little bit awkwardly. If Dong stays married for two years, he'll become an American citizen; the only issue is that they both still have feelings for one another.

Even Lillian invites Dong to their skating party with her former flame, Bobby (played by Fred Armisen).  Kimmy tries to move on but goes for one last time, and this time, it is at Dong's party where Dong's marriage officer is there to ensure they are a complete couple. Thank god she didn't. Kimmy and Dong kissed in the bathroom after some dead swordfish fell on her.

In the meantime, Titus faces legal issues with his wife, and he leaves her on the dance floor. When Kimmy talks to his wife, all she wants is an apology. But when the lawyer contacts them back, she owes Titus money instead because she tells everyone he is dead.

Also, we get to learn Titus' real name, Ronald Wilkerson. Kimmy hopes that Titus doesn't do the same thing as he did with his wife. She tries talking some sense but realizes that he won't after he walks towards Amtrak and apologizes and dances with his former wife.

And, of course, Jacqueline is back at home with her native family, but she doesn't seem quite to fit in. After switching from a smoking pipe to a viper and her parents asking her to do a traditional dance in the cornfield, she takes the hint that she needs to go back.

This episode never missed a beat, as it still had that odd humor. I thought that Kimmy, Titus, and Jacqueline had perfect storylines in this one. You can catch the rating down below, along with the second episode.

"Kimmy Goes on a Playdate"

In the second episode, Kimmy looks for a job at a Christmas store and gets the job as the helpful elf. Soon, Jacqueline comes crashing in front of her apartment and asks to stay with her and Titus for a few days.

Jacqueline thinks that having $12 million from the divorce is a bad thing for her reputation with other wealthy friends. She asked Kimmy to pick up her son, find her friend Deirdre, and set a play date. After Kimmy sets up the play date, she tells Jacqueline that it will be in her apartment, and the reaction from Jacqueline is like the Terminator busting through the walls.

Jacqueline acts like she has more than what she got from her husband and tries to play the rumors of her down. At one point, she, Kimmy, and her son get in a car, escape from the other side, and head towards the bus.

She explains to Kimmy that she wants to do right and make a charity to get back with her family. Kimmy thinks you have to make them believe you are rich by playing with them, like when Jacqueline bought a painting at an auction. That also helped with Jaqueline's stepdaughter, who didn't want to leave the house.

While that was going on, Titus came to the realization that he had way too many clothes in his closet after they fell apart. After trying to give them to Goodwill, he returned them after folks made fun of him. Hey, the shorts that are longer than pants are my kind of style!!!

After he throws his clothes in the dump, someone picks them up, and he follows them to a construction worker's truck, Mike, who is the guy who hit on Kimmy and Titus last season. Mike tells Titus that he's gay but hasn't come out yet due to the guys he's working with, but he asks Titus for a date.

I thought this was another fantastic episode. I loved the references from the Ninja Turtles on who wrote that, and a photo of Chuck Lorrie shows up. I thought that this was another great Titus and Jacqueline episode. I still believe that those shorts longer than pants could catch on. I'm not ashamed to say it.

Overall, I give "Kimmy Goes Roller Skating" a 9/10 and "Kimmy Goes on a Playdate" a 9/10.
