GLOW Season 1

The latest new hit from Netflix is a flashback to another 80s era that will make you laugh, love, and sing along to some classic hits.

GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is the new comedy-drama series set in Los Angeles in 1985; it stars Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie, (Community, Mad Man)), a struggling actress, who auditions along with over a dozen other women in the professional wrestling.

Wilder is against all odds with GLOW's director Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron) due to her tendency to overact. But Ruth's best friend and retired soap star, Debbie Eagan, arrives at the ring after discovering that Ruth slept with her husband; their confrontation will either make or break the show.

The series has natural dark storylines and humor, along with interesting characters. Brie shines very brightly and plays the role of Wilder superbly. Maron plays Sylvia like a parody of Steven Spielberg. There are so many memorable, hilarious moments, from getting slapped by a wrestler's father to even telling a musician about the movie that he's been trying to get made.

Along with Brie and Maron, the show also has a great ensemble cast that's so diverse and gives that Pitch Perfect kind of thing. Brittney Young and Gayle Rankin steal the show throughout the first season.

If you can't get enough of 80's throwback with shows like Stranger Things, GLOW might be the show for you to binge-watch.

GLOW Season 1 is available now on Netflix.
