Chicago PD's Tracy Spiridakos Leaving After Season 11

Looks like the Intelligence team is losing another one of its own.

Variety reports that Tracy Spiridakos, who plays detective Hailey Upton on Chicago PD, will depart after the NBC drama's 11th season. But it's currently unknown when her exit will happen in the upcoming season.

Spiridakos first appeared at the end of season four in a recurring appearance until joining the team full-time in season five after Sophia Bush left.

When season ten ended in May, Upton was dealing with the fallout of her departure from her husband, Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer), in the third episode. Later in the season, after heading to Bolivia to track the worst cartel targets. Halstead had stopped contacting Upton and failed to tell her he had extended his overseas stay.

So, there might be a chance that Halstead might return before Upton's departure.

While this is a shock (even to me), thinking about this just a bit makes sense probably from a story point of view that maybe her character is just drawing on a bit more than what they thought or what Spiridakos thinks.

Is it sad? Of course, it is to see a favorite character leaving the series, whether walking away or dying on screen. But I can't wait to see how Gwen and the Chicago PD writers will write her out.
