Loyalties are put to the test in this week's episode of Countdown. Here's my recap and review.
In this week's intense episode of Countdown, "Nothing Else Helps," Meachum and the team review what they missed after last week's mishap involving the elusive Gallegher and a truck company they later discovered (talk about a surprise!). However, they quickly face a new problem when it becomes clear that someone might be leaking information after their attempt to infiltrate a Russian company is met with their lawyer threatening immediate lawsuits. So, the burning question remains: who was the leaker? Was it someone from SWAT? Was it Bell?
Speaking of Bell, he's been friendly with Valwell, who offered him a tempting job for information on Blythe's investigation. But after this week's events, Bell decides to stay with the team. Meachum faces more headaches, worsened by Oliveras' medicine. After being late, Meachum reveals his brain tumor, saying he's not looking to see the sunset but to save people. This was a key moment for his character.
The episode's side plot was likely the most brutal, featuring Volchek. After giving a "thank-you" gift, he is ambushed by Belarusian consultant thugs seeking the money he took. After a brutal beating and threats, Volchek escapes by locking himself in his safe and blowing up the room, revealing his ruthless nature.
"Nothing Else Helps" was a really engaging episode with some heartfelt character moments. I loved how Meachum finally opened up to Oliveras about his health which made the episode meaningful and how Bell made a smart decision by rejecting Valwell's questionable offer. These choices really make you think—did Bell somehow tip off their bust? Could it have been someone from S.W.A.T.? The main theme here seems to be loyalty—staying true to honesty and respecting others. While the episode focused on these great character moments, it did feel a bit like filler, much like last week's episode.
Overall, I give this episode a 7/10.
