The TV world never sleeps, and neither do we! Here’s your quick-hit guide to this week’s hottest premieres, fresh reviews, and must-watch binges in TV Corner Notes.
Welcome back to another edition of TV Corner Notes, your go-to column for weekly thoughts on what’s hot in the TV world. Let's dive in.
Return to the World of Wednesday Addams
Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 landed on August 6 with just four episodes — and after binging them all, I’m already counting the days to Part 2.
This season finds Wednesday back at Nevermore Academy, now a campus celebrity. But a string of mysterious deaths — paired with her suddenly glitching psychic powers — pulls her into another dark investigation. By the finale, one mystery is solved, another is cracked wide open, and the cliffhanger is pure perfection. Underneath the supernatural drama runs a sharp exploration of mother–daughter tensions, with Morticia’s fears about her sister’s past casting a long shadow.
Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones are electric together — whether clashing over a forbidden book or crossing swords, they light up the screen. Steve Buscemi charms as Barry Dort, the school’s new principal, balancing warmth with quiet scheming. And Evie Templeton’s Agnes DeMille — part invisible trickster, part obsessive Wednesday fan — adds a lively spark, especially in her showdowns with Emma Myers’ Enid.
Verdict: 9/10, and I’d watch it again tomorrow.

Twisted Metal Turns Up the Chaos
Season 2 kicked off strong, but episodes 4 and 5 (dropped Aug 7) crank up the action, absurdity, and laugh-out-loud moments.
Episode 4 sees John, Quiet, Dollface, and Mayhem on a quick pit stop for weapons ahead of the big tournament. In classic Twisted Metal fashion, John and Quiet stumble into — of all things — a sex cult. They make a flirty escape with their haul… minus the stash Stu “liberates” and the rest lost to a fire.
Episode 5 opens with a rowdy drivers’ meet-and-greet before the race kicks off. John learns their packages are actually trackers, while Mayhem, distracted by Quiet, scrambles for a new ride. When she runs into trouble, John and Quiet turn back, guns blazing.
Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz remain the show’s beating heart — their chemistry makes you root for them no matter how wild things get. Thursday’s drop can’t come soon enough.

What to Watch This Week
Plenty of fresh TV is on the way — here are my top picks:
1. Alien: Earth (Tue, Aug 12 — Hulu/FX)
A mysterious deep-space vessel crash-lands, unleashing a terrifying discovery. My most anticipated premiere this month — every teaser has me more hyped.
2. Butterfly (Wed, Aug 13 — Prime Video)
Daniel Dae Kim stars as David Jung, a volatile ex–U.S. intelligence operative in South Korea whose quiet life shatters overnight. Six episodes, all looking binge-worthy.
3. Irish Blood (Mon, Aug 11 — Acorn TV)
Alicia Silverstone plays Fiona Sharpe, a high-powered L.A. divorce lawyer pulled into a family mystery in Ireland after an unexpected message from her estranged father.
4. The Rainmaker (Fri, Aug 15 — USA Network/Peacock)
A young lawyer joins forces with an ambulance chaser to take on his former firm in this new adaptation of the John Grisham novel.
What’s on your watchlist this week? Are you diving back into Wednesday’s dark halls or buckling up for more Twisted Metal mayhem? Let me know in the comments.
