ABC is kicking off 2027 with returning favorites, new series, major event programming, and a few notable schedule shake-ups.
ABC is looking ahead to 2027, unveiling its midseason schedule and confirming premiere dates for several returning favorites, including High Potential, Shifting Gears, and Will Trent, along with the highly anticipated debut of The Rookie: North.
As previously announced, The Rookie returns for Season 9 on Wednesday, January 6, at 9/8c, followed by the series premiere of The Rookie: North, the Jay Ellis-led spin-off, at 10 p.m. The network will also bring High Potential back for Season 3 on Tuesday, January 5, before the series gets another major showcase with a special episode airing in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot on Sunday, February 14.
ABC's midseason lineup also includes the return of Shifting Gears for Season 3 on Wednesday, January 6. The new season will feature a 2 Broke Girls reunion, with Kat Dennings joined by guest star Beth Behrs. The comedy moves into the Wednesday lineup following the conclusion of Scrubs, which wraps its 10-episode second season in December.
Will Trent also returns for Season 5 on January 5, with The Pitt's Alexandra Metz joining the cast as new GBI deputy director Birdie Palmer.
Elsewhere, Shark Tank is getting another new home. The long-running reality series moves to Mondays following American Idol, beginning February 8. ABC has also confirmed that its untitled Grey's Anatomy spin-off remains on track for a premiere during the 2027–2028 television season.
With returning favorites, new series, special events, and a few schedule shake-ups, ABC has plenty planned for the first half of 2027. Here's a look at the network's complete midseason rollout.
