Wednesday Night Comedies: Premieres and Finales.

Melissa & Joey "Double Happiness" series finale

In the series finale of "Melissa & Joey, fear plays a role in everyone's decision making.

As Mel is about to run for Congress, she gets news that she's expecting. When her and Joey find out from the ultrasound, it turns out that they're expecting double, with twins. Fearing everything Mel freaks out also experiencing a weird dream that she's a Congresswoman who's super busy but she has to feed their eight kids.

Meanwhile, Joey, who acts all cool about, doesn't kind of think that it's cool and thinks over the same fear as Mel. But after having a talk, he talks to Mel after her nightmare about that fear is just the start of a new life and you have to run for it. That kind of help with Mel's decision to not run for Congress.

But just as Mel announces that she's not running, she changes her mind.

Also that Ryder is being placed in Virginia and Lennox and Marco are going to get married after their near death experience almost hitting the deer.

This finale felt like a real down to story telling finale. It might not be the greatest finale, but it does sure serve the propose that this family will keeping going in life even if fear does come, they'll still run even after the series ends.

Overall, I give this episode a 7.5/10. It was very good and for someone who hasn't watched this series since the second season, it still was good.

Mr. Robinson "Pilot"/"Flesh for Fantasy"

I enjoy a good mix of comedy and music and what Mr. Robinson shows is that and a whole lot of laughs.

The series is about Craig Robinson, who's a musician who spots a familiar face...his former girlfriend from high school. He tries to get her back when he learns that she's teaching at the same high school they went to.
Craig subs for the week, but when he learns that Victoria has a boyfriend, even though he thought they had broken up, Craig to return the favor of dancing with her at the prom.

There's quite a lot of humor from any point of view, from the teachers to the principal that has an eye for Craig and the kids.

I can't get enough of the chemistry between Robinson and Peri Gilpin (Fraiser) as Principal Taylor. Hell, in the second episode she deals with an old flame that Craig's trying to get a record deal from and it doesn't turn out good for Taylor or Craig.

This is a really good show so far. The opening theme has that 70's style vibe and to me I just love that there's only at least a couple of songs and that there's more of the humor. I can't get "Chocolate Muffin" out of my head. It reminds me of "Muffin Top" from "30 Rock."

Overall I give the "Pilot" a 8/10 and "Flesh for Fantasy" a 8.5/10.

Stitchers "Full Stop" Summer Finale 

In the summer finale of "Stitchers," things took a different turn and left us asking a straightforward question: Will Cameron live or die?

The episode started with Fisher meeting with Maggie and Turner. Turner tells Fisher not to tell Kristen what he knows about her father and Ed's death. That leads Fisher to want to talk to Kristen alone, but Camille and Cameron come into the picture.

As Camille and Kristen leave to talk, Cameron and Fisher talk, but soon Fisher gets shot, and Cameron
was found knocked out with only a concussion.

After waiting in the hospital, Kirsten and the gang try to find out what had happened and figure out who was the shooter. Just before anything, Cameron is fine; they stitch the victim from the shooting.

Kristen sees the guy, who happens to be the person who helped her and Cameron out catching the robber from episode three.

They searched for the guy, and it was pparapparenthad, who had worked for the Stitchers program before.

It wasn't until Kirsten and Cameron found a video of her dad trying to perform an early stitcher to help get her mother back from a coma. That didn't work. It does answer the question of why this suits her more than anyone else.

As the gang couldn't get anywhere, Cameron couldn't figure out the car he passed just before the shooting, but he got an idea: to stitch him.

Cameron decides to stop his heart and give them enough time to find out what his memory has, but Kristen can't see much of the license plate. But the shocking moment came when Kristen saw a little Cameron, after just having heart surgery, walking in the halls and came upon a younger Kristen coloring her mother's nails.

But was Kristen too late to save Cameron? Cameron flat-lined and left us on a cliffhanger.

Will Cameron live or die by the time Season 2 starts? Who knows?

This episode was good; I thought we got some answers to why Kristen was meant for the Stitcher's program. I did think that throughout the season, Cameron and Kristen's relationship grew.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10, and for the whole season, I give it an 8/10.

Playing House "Hello, Old Friend" & "Sleepless In Pinebrook" Season Premiere. 

After trying to get a family photo, Emma and Maggie bump into Mark and his Tina, and she doesn't look happy after what happened four months ago.

While trying to talk to one another, Emma and Maggie notice that they have a dog dressed in the same outfit as Mark and Tina. You can tell the dog was not into it, even 

Later Maggie feeds her baby, who's not eating her carrots, but Emma comes with a Mr. Cookie puppet that helps the kid eat and sleep. Maggie's ex-husband tells them that his mother is making sauce.

Maggie goes to Mark's house so he can spend some time with her baby, and they've been doing this behind Tina and Emma's back for a while. It's so hilarious watching Mark talking baby to the baby.

As everyone was helping make sauce, Emma couldn't find Mr Cookie, and when Maggie figured out where it was, they went there and tried to get it. They had to sneak into Mark's house and find the puppet. They search until they hear the dog with the puppet in its mouth.

As they chase the dog and get the puppet, Mark and Tina come in and fight about the date that they were on. Maggie and Emma hide in the closet like a cave of beautiful sheets. As Tina was looking for her dog, Maggie and Emma quickly got the dog out of the closet.

Soon, the girls try to sneak out but get caught by Mark. As they try to leave, Tina appears and wants sex downstairs. She spots the girls on the floor and freaks out, unlike Mark, who was yelling at a level over 10.

They soon talk and settle down and forgive and forget the issues. As they tried to get the puppet, the dog was on the couch humping on it.

As the girls came home, Bruce put the baby to sleep without the puppet, but the photo they took early came from the photographer. Why the photographer wanted Emma to hold the banana was hilarious.

The next episode was by far the funniest episode yet, even if it was the second episode of the season.

When Maggie tells Emma that she had a sex dream with The Property Brothers, that means that Maggie is ready to go out into the dating world again.

I couldn't stop laughing at their conversation about Maggie's dream. So Emma tries signing Maggie up for Tender but instead, group and categorize the men and show photos of them to her.

As Maggie and Emma go out on their date, Bruce and Zach spend Duncle time with the little one. One hilarious moment came when Bruce bathed the baby, and she pooped in the tub, and both Bruce and Zach freak out like it was the end of the world.

Dating didn't go well with Maggie. Guys come and keep asking if they like to party, which to Emma means do you want to do cocaine?

Maggie didn't think it was going anywhere and took off to be with her baby, and Emma bounced and bumped into a guy carrying a bag of bread. But they hit it off.

The episode's ending was a dream sequence with Maggie and Emma dreaming about The Property Brothers, and Emma was sure to have the funniest and best dream.

Both episodes were funny and good. I can't stop thinking about how the Property Brother's dreams scenes. It was just flat-out hilarious.

Overall, I give "Hello, Old Friend" an 8/10 and "Sleepless In Pinebrock" a 9/10.

The Blacklist Season 3 Promotional Poster

Last week NBC released the first promotional poster of the highly anticipated, best and addicting drama The Blacklist. The poster shows James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington (front and center) and Meagan Boone as FBI agent Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (behind him holding a gun).

With this being a black and white poster, there's only Red's sunglasses and Liz's gun that shown to be tented red. The phrase "It's Good To Be Wanted" shows below the The Blacklist logo.

If you haven't seen last season's finale of The Blacklist, Liz and Red are on the run after Liz shot the US Attorney General. The FBI is on the hunt for the two but that doesn't mean that they're not going to stop capturing Blacklisters. There's going to be blacklisters and from what the first episode called "The Troll Farmer"

The series just signed Edi Gathegi ("X-Men: First Class" & "Proof") as its new villain for the season. Gathegi will be portraying Mr. Solomon who will make his appearance in the season opener and act on the behalf of the Cabal.

"Community" Cancelled

Well, it looks like it's six seasons and no more.

Joel McHale confirmed to Metro Weekly in an interview that Community's recent sixth season on Yahoo has been it's last.

In the interview, Greendale's fearless and handsomest leader revealed that Yahoo was interested in a Season 7, but financial issues has caused problems for any potential renewal.

"All of our contracts were up after six years," said McHale. "All the actors on the show, almost without exception - their stock has risen significantly and it's out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show. So you're not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show.

But there should be some light shining on this for the Greendale gang. Dan Harmon told TVLine in July at Comic-Con that the franchise will likely fulfill it's #sixseasonsandamovie destiny. His plain: "We wait a little but, let (the cast) explore their awesome careers, and then we get together for an incredible movie."

TVLine reports that "A Sony rep, meanwhile, maintains that the future of Community is 'still undetermined.'"

A Long and Dwindling: Labor Day review

I can call it the longest holiday I would ever have to encounter for this story.

With the summer coming to an end and the Labor Day weekend approaching, when a thirteen year old Henry and his emotional mother encounters a wounded stranger. That stranger happens to have a secret that will change both their lives when they show him kindness.

The book is a coming of age novel that deals with life changes in my opinion.

"Labor Day" by Joyce Maynard is a book that I only enjoyed half way through reading it and then it just got boring from then on. I just thought that after having Frank (the stranger) staying at the house over the holiday weekend that things just got dull and soapy for me.

I couldn't keep my eyes open when I'm trying to finish it. And the ending was somewhat disappointing. I had thought that things could go the wrong way but it really didn't, like that I thought that there could have been a standout shootout with Frank and the cops.

I've seen the film version after I read the novel and thought that it was a bit better than what I could see and understand from what the book was telling. And plus Kate Winslet stars in the film and anything with Winslet starring in, I'm seeing it. Heck, I saw The Reader before reading the novel.

If you like a novel that's of coming of age and deals will into family and relationship drama than this might be the book for you. I think that this would be a book to read during the summer weekend getaways.

Overall, I give this novel a 5/10.

"Labor Day" is not the worst book I have read and it surely isn't one of the best ones. But I do put it on my long, long list of books to read.

New Summer Comedy: "Mr. Robinson"

It's still summer and there's really not much comedy going showing these days.That will all change come this Wednesday when Craig Robinson ("The Office" & "Hot Tub Time Machine") comes back to NBC with a new series.

The series "Mr. Robinson" is about when a musician Craig Robinson is in search for a day job so that he can pay the bills. Finding a substitute teaching might be the easiest choice. Thinking that it's just popping in videos for the students all day, wrong! Soon he's surprised that he wants to inspire his class by using his music as an educational tool. However, that doesn't impress the principal at all with his teaching style, so if he wants keep teaching he'll have to get it together.

The series is created by Owen Ellickson with Greg Daniels as Executive Producer along with Mark and Robb Cullen and Howard Klein. Along with Robinson, Peri Gilpin, Brandon T. Jackson, Amanda Stenberg, Spencher Grammer and Tim Badley stars in the series as well.

Playing House: A Comedy that's Full of Laughs

If you haven't seen the USA Network comedy series "Playing House," you might want to tune in this Tuesday to watch the season premiere.

The series is about two best friends: Maggie (Lennon Parham), a new mother who ended her marriage when she discovered her husband's affair with another woman online. She turns to her best friend, Emma (Jessica St. Clair), for support. To help Maggie in her time of need, she gives up her successful trip to China to return to their hometown and help her friend raise her baby.

Season one was all about Maggie and Emma learning the ropes of what expecting couples do during pregnancy. Now, come season two, the series will have the two going through what it's taking care of the baby together.

This is one of the funniest shows on cable. Watching these two characters as childhood best friends would reflect how we would be with our best friends. Parham and St. Clair are hilarious, and I would say one of the best comedy duos on television today.
