Ever since nearly the end of last season, Truck 81 and Truck 66 have been having a bit of some issues going on, one of them being Dawson joining their team. The other is that they want to piss Casey and the rest off.
As everything is excellent and calm at House 51, Mouch, Cruz, and Otis are discussing a food truck for the new Molly's II. It didn't go well, with the price being nearly $80,000. Then the alarm goes off.Off they go, Truck 81 is heading, and just a block over, they see Truck 66 going to the same house fire they are going, and when Casey sees it, he tells Cruz to slow down and not be bothered by it. Cruz thinks he can get there first but then takes Casey at his word and slows down, but by the time that happens. Both trucks have collided, knocking Truck 81 on its side.
We see a shocked and shaken Cruz holding the wheel. Severide and the gang get there, take command, and get everyone out. Mouch suffered an eye injury. Cruz is suffering from shock even after he got out.
During the rescue, Mils takes a fall after getting dizzy as he is on top of Truck 66.
Dawson and Britt get there. As Welch, from Truck 66, bangs out the door, he pushes off and helps get his other guy out of the back with a bad leg injury.
As Cruz is watching, he wants to help but is told not to, and then Welch yells at him that it was his fault. Soon, Chef Boden and the other head chef get there and talk to Cruz and Casey about what happened. Cruz doesn't remember if the light was green or red.
Even so, Cruz had to take a blood and alcohol test to prove he wasn't under the influence. Later, the man driving Truck 66 took the most severe injury and might not make it. This got the blood boiling for Truck 66 against Cruz.Later, 51 took the rest of the day off. Casey and Dawson had a chance to talk about Boden, and he think that it would be good if she would join their squad. Of course, she loves the idea, but it will put a damper on both their relationship and their wedding.
The next day, the gang from 51 returns to Chicago Med and gives their thoughts and prayers to Truck 66's guy, who's still in critical condition. Cruz tries to apologize but doesn't seem to work the way he was hoping for and soon leaves. He did bump into Severide, who still can't go into the hospital after losing Shay.
I feel you, Severide.
The gang from 51 invited the team from 66 to Molly's and had a little fundraiser for their guy and his wife to help pay the medical bills. That night, the people that came toasted the guy from Truck 66.Soon, news came in that the guy was going to make it. Casey, Cruz, and the others return to Chicago Med and see that he is doing good. Just across from the room, Boden and the other chefs were there and told Casey and Cruz that the guy confessed that Welch gave him the go-ahead sign to keep going and not slow down.
Cruz told him thanks, and Herrmann gave the money donated to his wife.
Things seem to be good between House 51 and 66. The show gave Cruz another dark event this season, darker than last year, with a girl getting shot and his brother going undercover for Voght.
I very much enjoyed this episode. It had some severe points that there should never be any bad blood against one another. It will turn into something worse down the road, like this event.
Mils gets tested and finds out he has a medical issue and will have to leave Severide's Squad team. That makes a perfect fit for him being a paramedic and an ideal place for Dawson to join.
Next week's episode looks like another event for Severide as he seems to take some time off and then gets into a life-and-death situation on a subway, which, in the end, we see a gun at his head. It's something that I don't think you should miss.
