Ghostbusters

The Ghostbusters is finally released in theaters and believe me it wasn't a disappointment at all.

When Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wigg) is up for an Academic tenure at Columbia, she gets blindsided by a book that she and her best friend Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) written about the ghost and paranormal world. When she heads over to ask Yates to take the book down and meets with her colleague Dr. Jillian Holtzmann. They get an invite to investigate a haunting at a historical mansion,
and there they meet, record their encounter of a ghost and Gilbert getting slime.

When the video of their encounter hits the web, Gilbert is fired from the University, along with Yates and Holtzmann from their college too. There they formed their own department to continue their research, they take the place above a Chinese restaurant, there they hired a dumb-witted receptionist Kevin Beckham (Chris Hemsworth) and meet Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) as she came to report on ghost that she encountered in the subway tunnel.

The four takes a look and asked an artist if he'd seen any ghost and he responded with painting a ghost that would later be used for their symbol for their business. As the team goes into the tunnel, Yates' ghost meter runs high and finds a burned up equipment. There a ghost appears and Holtzmann sets up the proton laser and has Gilbert test it. With a few missteps, they caught it and tried to bring it back to before the train comes around but was too late.

Unknown of his doing, Roman North (Neil Casey) has come up with a device to bring the paranormal world into the real world. He leaves one at the subway tunnel, the other one at a live concert there the Ghostbusters get there and captures their first ghost.

But when Dr. Martin Heiss (Bill Murray) debunks that ghost aren't real, he makes a visit to the Ghostbusters and ask to see it. Making fun of Gilbert and their work, she releases the ghost and the ghost flies out taking Heiss and dropping him out the window. There the team gets summoned to the Mayor's office where they were asked to stop their work.

When the team gets back to their headquarters, Gilbert has the idea of what Roman is doing from the places that he placed those devices that they're on a ley line that intersects with a hotel at Time Square. The team races there, trying to talk Roman down. He shocks himself to death and dies, leaving the team to stop the massive device. But it turns out that they were blamed for the whole thing and the Mayor forces them to stop.

Erin is placed what seems to be a hotel, relaxing while she picks up their book that Roman was using that inspired him to bring the ghost. She looks through the pages until she see drawings, drawings of his plans that even killing himself was one. Erin phones the other girls but no luck.

Abby is at headquarters by herself, when she hears a knock. She starts to get scared and run in the bathroom. The ghost of Roman comes through the sink and into Abby. Abby comes out and acts normal towards Holtz and Patty until she starts destroying the proton packs.  She than takes Holtz by the neck and takes her over the window. Patty saves Holtz while Abby trying to knock them both out. Patty pulls Holt out and smacks the hell out of Patty making Roman leave and smacking her again in an hilarious way.

Roman still stuck around the place, he dives into Kevin and uses his body to complete the mission. Erin runs to warn the Mayor about what's coming. Trying unsuccessfully, she's thrown out and tries to warn everyone, which for her is a bit too late as Roman's machine had turned on.

In the fashion, Abby, Patty and Holtz heads out to take out the ghost. There they meet with Slimer, who's eating hot dogs, takes the Ecto-1 and drives off. The girls are on foot and battles Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons that included the Stay Puff Marshmallow man flatting them, until Erin comes popping him. The four reunite to take on Roman who has a hold on the National Guard and police let alone the CIA agents.

Roman unleashes his ghosts to the Ghostbusters and the scenes of them taking on the ghost was unbelievable. Even the music played perfectly to the action scenes too. The after the Ghostbusters took down the ghost, they went after Roman. Roman than changed formed into something nice and cute like the ghost buster logo, Formed into a giant ghost, the girls took him out by using the Ecto-1 nuclear cells in the car to shut down the portal.

As the portal was closing Roman grabs Abby and takes her with him. Erin goes after her and binges down getting her and the both comes out with white hair. The Ghostbusters are the heroes of New York City and even the Mayor won't acknowledge them stills congrats them. And the city shows their love with signs saying NYC Hearts GB.

I'll say this that I wasn't one of the many morons who thought that this film was going to be bad. I thought it was a smart move and the best at that. I love the film. It was really, really, good. I thought it was funnier, scarier and believable than the first one. I really thought that this film had a lot to breathe . I didn't think that it was slow at all.

The acting was amazing and played to the actor's strengthens. Especially Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, who steal the movie. I love McKinnon's character as she's quirky and funny. And the cameos in the film was awesome!! The original Ghostbusters cast with Bill Murray as a man who doesn't believe in ghost, to Anne Potts as a receptionist at a hotel. Dan Aykrord  as a cabbie who isn't afraid of the ghost. And not to mention, Al Roker, the #1 Ghostbusters' fan in the world had a great cameo. But the one person who stole the scene was Steve Higgins as the Dean of the Higgins College where Abby and Holtzmann run their project. I didn't know how many ways you can give the middle finger until I saw this film.

I know there has been a lot of negative talk about it that it's a reboot and it's gonna destroy the original franchise. It's really not. We need to move on like we have with Spiderman, Star Trek and others that have been rebooted many times. I understand I'm a huge fan of the original Ghostbusters films but it's time to move on and it's that time. There's a new chapter to the Ghostbusters and it's a hit!! Best summer movie so far (until Jason Borune comes out).

Overall, I give this film 5 out of 5 stars.

Ghostbusters is in theaters now!!

Strange Disappearance: Stranger Things "Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Beyer"

When a boy goes missing, a mysterious girl appears; this is how the series and I have started, along with a mysterious creator who's not even from the black lagoon.

In the first episode, the series opens up to the U.S. Department of Energy Labor, where a scientist was running through the hallways for his life from something. When he gets to the elevators, the doors open, and as he gets in, just as he thinks he's safe, he gets snatched from a creator.

Just next door to the laboratory is a town, Hawkins, Indiana, where we meet four boys, Will, Lucas, Mike, and Dustin, playing a game like Dungeons and Dragons. When the game is about to get good, Mike's ends it. Will, Lucas, and Dustin head home on their bikes, and then as Will leaves, MikMike's begin to flash in and out.

Dustin challenges Will that if he beats him to his house, he can pick any of his comic books, which he does, and pass his house. As he heads home, he passes an open gatethgate tis hat trespassing; he spots a mysterious creature,r steers off the road into the woods, and runs for his life. He makes it home with no one but the dog. He searches for his mom or brother,r but no one. As he sees the creator at the doo,r he runs to the shed and gets the gun out. As he loads the gun and waits for the creator, the creator makes a surprise move from behind.

The following day, Johnathan (Will's older brother) and Joyce (Will's mom) are up and about to head out for work until they haven't noticed that Will isn't home. Johnathan thought he stayed at Mike's house for the night. When Joyce called MMike'smo,m she replied that he left afternine9 that night.

Joyce runs to the town sheriff, Hopper, who has demons of his own from looking silly, beer, and the look shows it. He tries to calm down and does what he can to think of where the boy can be, at his secret spot, with distilled, still relative. But Joyce believes that he might have been taken.

While searching for Will at a burger shop, the kid comes back and, looking around, spots something that smells good (french fries) and eats it. But when she gets caught t, the guy takes her in, feeds her, and gives her some clothes. He calls an information number about the ki,d, but a woman who says is a social worker she kills the guy, while a group of men tries to take the chi,ld, but she disappears.

Mike, Dustin, and Lucas want to look for Mike, and they sneak out of the house at night. They tried places where Will would have gone, but with no luck, they looked through the woods until a storm came and soon bumped into the mysterious girl.

This episode had some '80s spook to it—the performances from certain actors, from Winona Ryder to David Harbour. The story is a bit slow initially, but it picks up well. I pretty much enjoyed the episode. The kids might be a problem, mainly with the characters like Nancy and her friends and "boyfriend." That one thing that I didn't care for, but let it go anyway.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

You can catch Stranger Things streaming on Netflix now.

Family All Around: The Night Shift "All In"

In this week's episode, the doctors face some stuff that really hit them in an emotional way.

Let's start with the case for Scott and Jordan as they still trying to be professional and not friends at work. Jordan gets a patient that suffers from FOB (Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva) which is that the person has brittle bones. The patient complains of pain in the lower area of his stomach and with everything Jordan can think that it could be asked for a surgical consult and can you guess who could that be?

If you say Scott, you're right!! As Scott takes a look, he think that it's gallstones and that needs to see another specialist for a consult. After that consult, he advise surgery, but the patient doesn't want it but lucky for him there's another way and they went for that against the specialist advise.

Few things do take a turn, the machine for the procedure wasn't working and Jordan had to get TC's girlfriend to come fix it but by the time that was all done, the patient was take a turn. But that didn't stop Scott of not refusing the patient to use the machine as it was fixed and passed the stones.

Topher and TC gets a patient that they closely know, Topher's mother. Topher's wife brings her in as she seems confused and faints. Topher and TC check and tested her and as soon things seem questionable it goes south.

As she gets an MRI, Topher tells his wife that he doesn't know what to do if she is dies. He mentions that they had a bit of a scene the other morning and feels bad that they ended it at that. The thought of that seemed real and does get you thinking about a family member too.

But here where the kick to left field comes in, as Topher treats his mother, TC gets a VIP from a familiar person, the guy at the casino a few episodes ago, who met Topher's mom. The guy did have a heart attack but when he told TC about seeing Topher's mom and having sex, TC knows what happen to her. He ask Topher and his wife to look around their mother for a nitro patch, which they did on her back and TC tells him that his mother was having sex with the guy from the casino. Topher was stun, as we all could be.

The two lovebirds got back together and after hearing the news of his heart attack, Topher's mother pushed him to get the surgery. He does and was successful.

But the other storyline was a killer, as in great. Drew and Shannon get the call of a car accident and take the chopper to get there. At the site, there was a girl who was not as badly hurt wanting to know about her foster mom. Drew gets to the foster mom, who happens to be in the car that's flipped over.

The mother tells Drew to promise her that he'll do anything to project her girl and he does. With the wounds that she suffers and the surgeons doing their best, things don't look good for her. Drew opens up to the girl very well with the book that she was reading and they connected. Shannon on the other hand is taking this very seriously and trying to get the social worker of the child to get over.

There are moments through this storyline that had me reaching for the tissues. Shannon really opens up to Paul about the life of a foster child. We finally know a little bit more about her. When the mother was gone, her, Drew and Paul pretended to keep her alive for the girl can say goodbye but it didn't turn out well.

The social worker gets there and is stressed out of what to do with her. She can't take her in because she had two other kids and her parents at her home. But Kenny opens to her and tells her that the kid can stay her with the pneumonia and that three doctors can sign on to keep her overnight til she gets better.

Along with that Drew gives the little girl his phone number whenever she needs to talk or something medical. He'll always pick up the phone no matter what.

I thought that this episode had a very good balance of emotional drama and humor. Topher's mother seems so serious at the time but than her boyfriend comes in and boom it was  makes things hilarious. The emotional drama comes in for the foster mother and daughter along with Shannon. And after what Paul has done to help make things great, she not only kisses him for the first time, they have a bit a morning pick me up in the back of his car.

Also Scott finally mans up and ask Jordan for a do-over on their friendship. Not to mention that everyone was congratulating Kenny for something that he has no idea and for me I thought it was a baby with that nurse, crazy right? Nope, he was just named the Union rep for the staff, which he doesn't want. Hey that's what happens when you miss the meetings, Kenny.

For the next two weeks, The Night Shift will be on a break due to the National Conventions of the Republican and Democrats. The show will be back Wednesday, July 27th at 10/9c with a big bang.

Fireworks: The Night Shift "By Dawn's Early Light"

Fireworks goes off in a bad way, as one doctor's condition is in question and another loses something he enjoys having.

Let's jump to the Fourth of July fireworks that Drew, Syd and her kid were at as they were to have fun until the fireworks went off early as schedule and causes chaos in the park. Drew and Syd jump to action and helps out a mother and daughter who were badly injured from the blast.

As they help them, Topher and TC get there and has them taking the chopper back to Memorial as Topher and TC take care of the others. TC gets word about that truck full of fireworks has caught on fire and one of his guys is trying to put it out. But when he told him that he already told another guy, TC sees that it was Topher and sees him running towards the fire until the truck explodes.

TC gets to Topher, who's down, after getting up they get to a worker, who is badly injured with second to third degree burns and missing half an arm. TC notice that Topher acting strange from the time there to the time they get back to the hospital.

Topher says he's okay until he falls down on the floor at the hospital. Both Jordan and TC make a case for him to get tested but he rejects the request. Soon, after having a temper with Kenny, TC and Jordan decide and announced that Topher was unfit to manage the ER. Jordan gives him the motherly of do it or else and takes him to the CT.

Later TC apologizes and brings coffee to Topher as he tells TC that he has a concussion. But tells TC that after making the changes in the last couple of months, that he was trying to be that 25 year old that he was. TC tells him that he isn't but he's making a great effort of changing that he's wife has been very, very happy.

As for Drew and Syd, the mother need surgery as the daughter need just stitches. Drew and Jordan treated the daughter as she was scared about what the kids will think of how she will look after. But Syd's kid comes in and helps calm her down and be her best friend. Later she sees a cut on her face and asked if she was going to have a scare. Drew tells her yes but if a plastic surgeon will figure something out, but her mother can't as they don't have a lot.

As for the mother, Scott and Syd operates on her and fixes her up. It didn't take that long but when her and her daughter reunited, Syd's kid tells them that her dad will help the daughter's plastic surgery for free and make her beautiful.

Grateful for that, there's a price for what Syd's kid just did. She calls her dad for help but also explains what happen. A father who's divorce fro Syd, gets very upset and files for full custody.  That pissed of Syd and takes it out on Drew. For that she and her daughter has to move to D.C. where he and his family lives in order to have custody. Drew loses a family that he really enjoyed being part of.

Other things to mention, Shannon and Paul help treat a famous artist not doing well. The artist complains of pain in his head and legs. Kenny thinks he's a druggie looking for a score but Shannon thinks it's something more than that. Paul comes in and gets some test on the guy. After testing the fluid in his knee. After the test, Paul figured out that it was lead poison from the paint that he's using.

I thought that this episode was really good. The characters do open up, for Shannon and Paul. Shannon really opened up to him with her drawing of him on a sailboat. It was hilarious that he still doesn't get it that she likes him, even the artist, who was resting noticed it.

As for Drew, I wonder that after losing Syd and her kid that this is going to get him to see his parents, even thought it doesn't look that great in episode 2.

This episode had some really good moments from Jordan telling Topher to get the CT to Shannon and Paul talking about art and not to mention the tension between Jordan and Scott about dating TC's sister. Hell those fireworks in the first scene of the episode was something else.

Overall, I give this episode a 8/10.

You can catch The Night Shift Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.

Actress Exits Chicago Justice

When Chicago Justice premieres in midseason the team of lawyers will be slightly different from what we seen.

It was announced on Thursday that Nazneen Contractor, who played ASA Dawn Patel in the backdoor pilot on Chicago PD, has left the series.

Contractor won't be out of work for long as the actress has joined an upcoming CBS drama Ransom, from executive producer Frank Spotnitz.

This isn't the first time that the Windy Cit franchise has experienced casting changes. The Walking Dead alumna Laurie Holden apperared in the backdoor pilot for Chicago Med but left last July due to family reasons. And not to mention Scott Eastwood, Tania Raymonde, KElly Blatz and Melissa Sagemiller were originally to star in PD.

The Justice cast features Phillip Winchester (The Player), Carl Weathers (Rocky), Joelle Carter (Justified), and newcomer Ryan-James Hatanaka.

Chicago Justice premieres midseason of the 2016-2017 season.

ABC's Conviction Has Got My TV Viewing Attention

For the first time since the debut of The Practice, I've never been interested in any drama series (or comedy) on ABC. They are  Practice was their best drama series, and after that, it was like watching Bear Grylls squeezing water out of poop. But all that changed when I saw the trailer for a new series, Conviction.

The series follows Hayes Morrison, played by Hayley Atwell, a lawyer and former first daughter, who is blackmailed into heading the new Conviction Integrity Unit in New York City, which was created to reexamine cases where there is credible suspicion of wrongful conviction. She works with lawyers, detectives, and forensic experts to identify those criminals convicted.

The series stars Atwell (Captain America: Winter Solider & Agent Carter) along with Eddie Cahill (CSI: NY), Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey (The King of Queens), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), and Manny Montana.

Conviction was created by Liz Friedlander (Pretty Little Liars) and Liz Friedman (Orange is the New Black), who also serves as Executive producers along with Mark Gordon (Ray Donovan, Criminals Minds) and Nick Pepper.

Atwell's character seems to be very intriguing from the start. In the trailer, she's this badass person who goes from party bad girl to redemption hero with attitude. It's so interesting that it's on my list of new shows. I might not watch it live or DVR it. But it'll be on my download to watch.

Conviction premieres Monday, Oct. 3rd at 10/9c on ABC.

Checkout the trailer:

Rob Lowe joins Code Black Season 2
