Conviction "Bridge and Tunnel Vision"

Image result for Conviction abc

In the episode, "Bridge and Tunnel Vision," When Hayes investigates a 10 year old case, she finds out that her boss was the one who convicted them and wants to get him back.

Hayes decides to go after Wallace's career making cases called the Prospect 3. The case was of three boys, Mike, Brian and Seamus, that were convicted of raping and assaulting a woman, Zadie Daniels, while on her way from work.

Hayes thought that this will be a great way to stick it to Wallace and when he comes up to see what they were working on, she decides to tell him about another case. But that secret didn't last too long when her mother comes up for a visit and spying on her too. Wallace thinks that the case was a slam dunk, but something wasn't adding up.

They learned that Zadie had lied about the whole rape thing, because she had an affair with a married guy. But the hit on the head with a brick was from someone, just so happens to be one of the boys. There might be a new problem as the days get closer, the team looked into background info on the boys and Brian was the one with a history of hitting women.

Hayes gets him to confess, while Mike and Seamus were free. Even though it might be a win for Hayes and her team, she doesn't quite enjoyed it as she told the press of the closed case to the media and soon Zadia gets mobbed with them asking about her lying.

This episode wasn't that bad. The case for this epsiode was good. But as I said about it in the pilot, ABC doesn't need to push the Scandal style sexy soap drama for this show. It can be better with central grounded characters. Overall, I give this episode 7/10.

You can catch Conviction Sunday nights at 10/9c on NBC.

Shows Coming to an End:
Bones (FOX): After 11 seasons the on air the hit FOX drama closes it's case for one last season. I've been a fan since the beginning, when I saw the first trailer for the show. Then when it came to the premiere I fell in love with these characters, mostly Temperance Brennan, because she was different than I've seen on television for a female lead. Plus it was on before FOX's other hit show, House, M.D. which during that time I called them the sister-brother combo of Tuesday night Fox ( I know it sounds weird but to me these two felt like they were siblings in a way). As much as I hate to see a series end, I'm glad that the network has given them a final run for us (the fans) to have a last go around. I'm sure these last 12 episodes will be their best ones yet.

Grimm (NBC): After five seasons, the book will come to a close on the hit NBC supernatural-cop drama.  Just like Bones, I fell in love these characters, a lot and if I'm not mistaken, it's probably the only show that hasn't really let go of it's actors. I enjoy watching Nick, Hank, Wu, Adalind, Rosealee and Monroe every week. And yes, even though some aren't into it, I'm on the bandwagon of #Nadalind. The series was so different that I loved tuning in on Fridays (and other nights it was one at the beginning). For it to end I hope there's a happy ending with 13 episodes get ready for the best of all.

Good But Not Bad: Conviction "Pilot" Series Premiere

Image result for conviction abc

Back in July, I wrote about my reaction to seeing the trailer for ABC's new series Conviction. I mention that for the first time that the trailer got my interested in watching this series, as it's been my first ABC drama series since The Practice was very good at the time.

The series premiered last week and after watching the pilot episode, I think it can be a lot better in a scene that it's looking like another sexy soap series.

Hayley Atwell plays Hayes Morrison, a daughter of a former President of the United States and future daughter of a Senator, who gets arrested for cocaine possession and is blackmailed by the current district attorney go head the new Conviction Integrity Unit. There her and the team takes on cases that have been wrongly convicted.

They take on the case of Odell Dwyer, a high school "good-looking black poster boy," who's in prison for murdering his girlfriend back when the two were in high school. The case seemed to be not going well into Odell's favor but within a couple of days til the he might not have a shot, the team looks at all directions and found out that the girlfriend dead in the evening during Odell's football game and that the girlfriend's journal had the word he as in Hector Esparia, a family friend that has been in all the photos.

The writing is pretty good as the case really takes its twist and turns as in it does the job of a good legal drama. The characters are really good. Atwell is amazing at Morrison with a balance of good and bad and wanting to stick it to the man. It's her best work since she played Agent Carter in the films and first season of the series. We do get to learn a little bit of each supporting character and that's something I liked as well.

The one thing that I don't like is how they're playing music at times and making it look so soap like Scandal or Grey's. ABC is really pushing the sex thing in their dramas these days and it's the one thing that I hate and haven't watched any other series on that network. One reason is when Morrison tells Wallace that she wants quit but he denies her and the two look at each other with tension, something that I don't feel it's real. Hell the music doesn't seem right for it either.

Do I like it, yeah. Could it be better? Oh yeah. Will I watch it, yes because Atwell is really good.

I give the pilot 6/10.

You can catch Conviction Monday nights at 10/9c on ABC.

ABC's Conviction Has Got My TV Viewing Attention

For the first time since the debut of The Practice, I've never been interested in any drama series (or comedy) on ABC. They are  Practice was their best drama series, and after that, it was like watching Bear Grylls squeezing water out of poop. But all that changed when I saw the trailer for a new series, Conviction.

The series follows Hayes Morrison, played by Hayley Atwell, a lawyer and former first daughter, who is blackmailed into heading the new Conviction Integrity Unit in New York City, which was created to reexamine cases where there is credible suspicion of wrongful conviction. She works with lawyers, detectives, and forensic experts to identify those criminals convicted.

The series stars Atwell (Captain America: Winter Solider & Agent Carter) along with Eddie Cahill (CSI: NY), Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey (The King of Queens), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), and Manny Montana.

Conviction was created by Liz Friedlander (Pretty Little Liars) and Liz Friedman (Orange is the New Black), who also serves as Executive producers along with Mark Gordon (Ray Donovan, Criminals Minds) and Nick Pepper.

Atwell's character seems to be very intriguing from the start. In the trailer, she's this badass person who goes from party bad girl to redemption hero with attitude. It's so interesting that it's on my list of new shows. I might not watch it live or DVR it. But it'll be on my download to watch.

Conviction premieres Monday, Oct. 3rd at 10/9c on ABC.
