The Blacklist "Miss Rebecca Thrall (No. 76)"

When there’s a spree of killer cops, Liz and the team investigate and find it shocking, while Red deals with his own issues and makes a deal that would allow him to kill two birds with one stone. Here's my recap and review of this week's episode of The Blacklist.

An Unlikely Mastermind

After seeing a good cop in the news for killing a man who violated his parole, Red gets Liz and the team to investigate. There, Liz and Ressler interview the cop who shot the suspect and the cop’s partner. They figure out that the cop was lying about how many shots he fired.

The team comes to the shocking conclusion that the lawyer who was helping these cops is the mastermind. She has been getting them to kill people who "needed to be killed" in exchange for payment, which would help with whatever personal or family situation they were going through.

Red's Double-Sided Deal

Meanwhile, Red gets a couple of visitors who leave him a message to see their boss. The boss wants the payment for the guns Red promised to give but hasn't. So Red goes to the man with a ton of money, Glenn, to help him out.

Soon after, Red meets with a businessman who sells gun products and buys him off. However, they have to meet at his private airstrip, which Smokey and his friend help get ready in time. To make sure everyone keeps their promise, Red gives the businessman Tom to hold on to until the exchange is complete.

The exchange happens just as the airstrip is finished, and soon, cops show up. Tom gets angry at Red, but it turns out that it was all Red's idea to get the guns, return Glenn's money, and keep the guy's airplane as a new, private place for him and Dembe to stay. The other criminals, of course, are off to jail.

My Thoughts on the Episode

"Miss. Rebbecca Thrall" was a pretty good episode. It was a fun and entertaining installment that had everything you'd want from the show. As much as I enjoy watching Red and Liz, watching Tom trying to get the bones looked at is an intriguing subplot on its own. It really doesn't have to show much to be compelling.

James Spader was excellent as usual in this episode, and so was Diego Klattenhoff. His character has gotten into trouble and is living on the darker side of his "good man" code. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

You can catch The Blacklist Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
