Balancing Act: Chicago PD "Off Switch"

If last week's episode dealt with Ruzek, this episode deals with Atwater and his personal and professional life. Here are my thoughts on the episode.

"Off Switch" was an excellent and well-written episode about Atwater, who, once again, tries to find balance in his work as he and the intelligence work a robbery case while dealing with his own problems of being the building super. At one point, you can feel the stress overflow in Atwater, mainly when he is juggling at the police station.

But not to mention building a relationship or, in this case, a working relationship with a forensic psychologist who he met at a bar the night of the robbery call, who gets involved in the case by helping with the only victim who had seen what had happened. Yes, there were ups and downs with these two as they worked together, but by the end of the episode, it all worked out, and it looks like Atwater is finally in a relationship.

LaRoyce Hawkins gives a fantastic performance and has become the heart of the intelligence unit. Someone mentioned on social media that Ruzek, Burgess, and Atwater were once young officers and are now leading the unit, which baffles me and makes me feel old. All in all, this was a fantastic episode.

Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

What did you think of "Off Switch?" Do you see Atwater in this relationship for longer than two episodes or so? Leave a comment.

You can catch Chicago PD on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC and streaming the next day on Peacock.
