Will Sonny decide to ask for help? How will Em manage to step into command? There's so much more to explore, so here's a quick recap!
After a successful rescue call, Sonny continues to grapple with the grief of his nephew's passing, which had caused him to hesitate during the call. This experience prompted him to seek help, but instead of speaking with a consultant, he found himself chatting with a former lifeguard.
While Sonny takes some time away, Em steps up to lead the station, a change that doesn't sit well with Laka, who arrives late to roll call yet again and ends up working with the rookies.
In the meantime, Laka, Hina, and Emerson tackle several rescues. During one of these, they face a hiccup when one forgets their walkie-talkie while helping an injured surfer, while the others are occupied assisting a drowning victim.
"The Deep End" was a commendable continuation following the two-night premiere, featuring noteworthy rescues, such as the initial incident involving two stranded fishermen. Additionally, several character-driven dramas were presented, some of which may have been executed with excessive emphasis, notably the disagreement between Em and Laka. The narrative surrounding Sonny's quest for assistance is particularly engaging; rather than pursuing conventional consultation, he encounters an individual capable of comprehending his predicament. Furthermore, the cast delivered solid performances throughout the production.
Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
