Rescue Hi-Surf "XXL"

On the day of the most dangerous ocean conditions in years, the Northshore crew experienced some life-changing moments. Here's a recap.

With the ocean conditions at their most dangerous, Sonny and the team plan to be there for those expert surfers who want to take on those massive waves. But as a few emergency calls, one of them being Sonny's daughter's boyfriend, who got knocked out and lost a couple of two front teeth. I'm sure Sonny was smiling to see him lose those teeth.

Meanwhile, Kainalu is pulled away from work by his father's request to help with a family emergency, which ends up helping him with political stuff. Of course, Kainalu doesn't want to do this, but his father tells him that in order to have the condo, truck, and job at Northshore, he must show his gratitude for helping him. That only lasted for the day when Kainalu gave his dad the car back and paid the rent.

But it was the call to rescue one of their own. Rocky, who was surfing with Em (on her day off), took on the waves and got caught off guard. That got Sonny and Hina trying to make a rescue, but just when Hina received him and Sonny rode off, they lost Rocky. Hina disobeyed an order from Sonny, and she had to rescue her instead.

That didn't sit well with Sonny as now he will have to tell Rocky's wife that he's missing and presumed dead and takes it really harsh on Hina, for which Em goes at Sonny and confronts him about him not the same after the loss of his nephew.

"XXL" was an exciting and intense episode. For one thing, Sonny and Hina rescued Rocky. We see those two have a mentor-and-mentee moment after a good rescue and continue to work after hours, but once Rocky's rescue is unsuccessful, the page turns quickly. Even the Kainalu helping his dad was good, even for a character I don't care for. It made me feel sorry for him and happy that he's taking a stand against his dad, but how long will that last?

Overall, I give "XXL" an 8/10.
