TV Corner Notes: Alien: Earth Goes Back, Wednesday Gets Freaky

In this late edition of TV Corner Notes, Alien: Earth goes back in time, while Wednesday gave us an awesome "Freaky Friday" moment. Here are my reviews of this week's shows, along with what to look forward to this week. Let's dive in.

Alien: Earth: "In Space, No One..."

Alien: Earth just keeps getting better, and this week's flashback episode is no exception. We dive back before the events that led to the crash in the first episode of the series.

In episode five, "In Space, No One...", we see Morrow awakened from cryosleep, dealing with a fire emergency while two Facehuggers are attached to two crew members, one of whom is the captain. Later, it's revealed that the ship's navigational system was also damaged by the fire, leading Morrow to suspect sabotage. He was right, as one of the crew members, Petrovich, made a deal with Boy Kavailer to bring the Xenomorph species to Prodigy.

Along the way, we learn Morrow's backstory about his daughter. He kept valuable items from her, such as drawings and a letter that informs us she had died while he was on this mission. The episode also features another fantastic action scene with Xenomorphs, ticks, and even the eye-octopus. This leads to the moment where we meet Morrow again and see him leave his last living crew member behind with the Xenomorph while setting up to land in Prodigy.

Like I mentioned earlier, this episode was truly fantastic, showcasing incredible character growth not only in Morrow but also in his crew members. It's always exciting to see such development unfold! Usually, flashback episodes are a hit or miss, but this one stands out with excellent performances, brilliant writing, and direction. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Countdown: "Your People Are in Danger" Season Finale

In the season finale, the team focuses on Todd when they discover a link to his manifesto on a local radio show. Just as they get closer, Oliveras is captured and taken hostage by Todd. When they find Todd's location, they search the area and arrest him, but he's not the Todd they were after; the real Todd framed his friend from work.

Just when things get tough for the team, Meachum and Oliveras face their feelings for each other, and Oliveras may be having second thoughts about her doctor boyfriend. Blythe handles the pressure of capturing Todd, while Shepard deals with a relapse of her sister's troubling behavior, which worsens when her sister ends up in a hospital in a coma. And that's not all—Oliveras is taken to an open field by Todd, the same open field where he takes his victims (remember the dog), and he tells her to run.

The season finale really upped the excitement and kept us on the edge of our seats as these characters searched for Todd. It leaves us hanging with a cliffhanger, leaving us eager for Prime Video to announce a second season soon. Can't wait to see what happens next! While the show was good but slow during the first half, this portion of the season was solid, with a character like Todd who knows how to stay ahead of them. Overall, I give the season finale a 9/10 and the season as a whole an 8/10.

Wednesday Season 2, Part 2

The anticipation for Part 2 of Season 2 of Wednesday couldn't have been any higher, but it was worth it.

I was truly impressed by how the second part of season two brought exciting new dynamics while still emphasizing the family theme. From Wednesday and Morticia to Tyler, his mother, and his uncle, every relationship added depth. I also loved seeing Enid and Agnes grow from rivals to best friends, showing wonderful character development that made the story even more engaging.

The second episode in part two is my favorite of the season, as it features a "Freaky Friday" scenario between Wednesday and Enid. They switch bodies after being interrupted by Enid while Wednesday was attempting to seek assistance from Rosalind Rotwood (Lady Gaga) to locate Tyler. Both Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers delivered outstanding performances.

The season finale was packed with surprises. I especially enjoyed the reveal of Thing's origin. When Enid, who turns into a werewolf, helps Agnes rescue Wednesday from being buried alive by Tyler's uncle, it really touched my heart. But the season ends with Wednesday searching for Enid, who has run away as a werewolf, promising that she will help bring her back.

Overall, I give Part 2 a 9/10 and the season as a whole a 9/10.
