Thoughts:
It took a couple of seasons, but Fire Country has firmly turned up the heat. Following the Season 2 finale, which left Gabriela at the altar marrying someone who isn’t Bode, the anticipation for Season 3 is high. This CBS drama expertly blends elements of Chicago Fire, Grey’s Anatomy, and 9-1-1, delivering high-stakes rescue scenes alongside compelling character-driven storytelling.
Yes, it leans a little soapy at times, but that’s part of its charm. Instead of swelling inspirational ballads, the series employs a gritty country music soundtrack that adds a unique edge. Billy Burke continues to shine as Cal Fire Battalion Chief Vince Leone, anchoring the series with authority and heart. Yet, it’s the complicated dynamic between Bode and Gabriela that truly keeps viewers invested.
Season 3 explores evolving relationships and high-stakes personal drama. Bode and Gabriela grow closer as friends, while Bode finds a new connection with Audrey James, a Cal Fire firefighter with a challenging past, whose initial friction with him eventually deepens into something more.
Meanwhile, the Leone family confronts significant challenges. Vince’s father receives a devastating dementia diagnosis, and Jake struggles with uncertainty about whether or not he'll be the one taking over the Chief’s role when Vince steps down. This tension drives much of the season’s emotional weight.
The season concludes on a heart-stopping cliffhanger: Vince and Sharon are trapped in a collapsing assisted living facility. Shortly after, news broke that Billy Burke would not be returning for Season 4. This adds a new layer of tension—who will fill the Chief’s shoes, and how will Station 42 adapt to Vince’s absence?
Fire Country proves that formulaic drama can feel fresh when the characters are well-written, the stakes are high, and the personal moments land with authenticity. Season 3 delivers on all fronts, keeping fans hooked and eager for what’s next. Overall, I give this series a 7.5/10
Are you ready for Season 4? How do you think Station 42 will handle Vince’s exit?
You can catch the season premiere of Fire Country, Friday, October 16 at 8/7c on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.
