Twisted Metal Renewed For Third Season

We'll be getting more Twisted Metal.

On Tuesday, Deadline reported that Peacock has renewed Twisted Metal for a third season, but with the renewal comes a change in showrunner as David Reed (The Boys and Supernatural) will take the helm from Michael Jonathan Smith.

The half-hour series, based on the classic PlayStation game, follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie) as he attempts to deliver a mysterious package in a post-apocalyptic world. With the help of Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), a fierce car thief, they face marauders and dangers, including a deranged clown, Sweet Tooth (Joe Seanoa/Will Arnett), in an ice cream truck.

In the second season, John and Quiet enter the dangerous Twisted Metal tournament, hosted by the mysterious Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). As they face new foes and the notorious clown Sweet Tooth, John's situation becomes more complicated when he reunites with his long-lost sister, Dollface (Tiana Okoeye). The season two finale sets up season three, with John and Quiet preparing to confront Calypso, who framed them for spectator murders at the Twisted Metal tournament, sparking a war between the Inisders and Outsiders.

According to Peacock, Twisted Metal Season 2 "registered 933 million minutes viewed" on the streaming service, becoming their "second highest-reaching original returning scripted season."
