Recap: Landman "Handsome Touched Me"

Will Tommy get Cami to see the downside of the offshore drilling option, and what will he do about T.L.'s accident? Here's a recap and review of Landman's "Handsome Touched Me."

As Tommy and the crew gather to discuss offshore drilling options, Tommy’s hopes for a conservative approach are dashed. Cami isn't just leaning into the high-risk 10% success option; she’s pushing all her chips into the center of the table. Haunted by a disturbing encounter with a man she calls "handsome", who overstepped by touching her face without permission, Cami is in no mood to be told what to do. She is determined to win on her own terms, refusing to be someone who "folds" or sells the company.

Despite the vocal disapproval from Tommy and Rebecca, Gallino officially throws his weight behind Cami. As a major investor, he effectively seals the deal with his support. Whether Tommy likes it or not, they are drilling, and the stakes have never been higher for M-Tex.

Earlier in the episode, Tommy discovers that T.L.’s failing health has taken a literal dip—he finds his father has fallen into the pool due to his weak leg. After a tense moment and a helping hand, Tommy decides T.L. needs specialized motivation. He hires a "physical therapist" (who is actually a high-end sex worker) to get his father moving. What starts as a bizarre and awkward setup turns out to be precisely what T.L. needed, providing a surprisingly heartfelt and compelling recovery session.

Meanwhile, Angela and Ainsley take a group of residents from the assisted living facility on a wild casino trip. Not only do the seniors have the time of their lives, but Angela and Ainsley take a young, timid facility worker under their wing, giving her a complete "bad influence" makeover. By the time the worker returns home, her husband is more than a little impressed with her new confidence.

The biggest shocker? Angela, who had previously borrowed $10,000 from Tommy, returns his investment with a staggering $300,000 in winnings, signaling a massive shift in her financial independence.

"Handsome Touched Me" was a compelling episode that skillfully combined themes of corporate rebellion with intimate domestic moments. While Cami’s choice to pursue a 10% success rate might seem like a potential trouble spot for Tommy and Rebecca, it also offers a captivating look at Cami’s courageous spirit and her determination not to be swayed by the men around her. The relationship between Tommy and T.L. stays at the heart of the show, providing emotional depth that keeps viewers connected. The "physical therapist" subplot was delightfully quirky, truly a signature touch of the show’s distinctive style. Watching Angela turn a small loan into a significant fortune adds a fresh and intriguing dimension to her evolving relationship with Tommy. Moreover, the suspense around the offshore project is building beautifully as we approach the season finale. Overall, I’d rate this episode a solid 8/10.

What did you think of this week's episode? With Cami choosing the 10% risk and Angela now having $300,000 of her own, it feels like the power balance in Tommy’s life is completely shifting. Do you think Cami’s "all-in" move will actually pay off, or is this the beginning of the end for M-Tex? Leave a comment.

  1. Season 2 has come to an end, and I feel it was even better than the first—Sam Elliott's character, in particular, was absolutely outstanding. Paramount has already officially announced the renewal for Season 3, but what to do during the long hiatus? You can come here:
