ABC is keeping the music going.
On Wednesday, ABC annouced that American Idol will be officially coming back for Season 25, with auditions kicking off Tuesday, August 25.
The milestone season will once again start with Idol Across America, the show’s virtual nationwide search for talent across all 50 states and D.C. Hopefuls can audition online for producers and try to earn a spot in front of the judges. There will also be open-call auditions around the world.
Season 25 is expected to premiere in 2027, but ABC hasn’t said yet if host Ryan Seacrest and judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood are coming back.
The renewal comes after Season 24, which shook things up with a few format changes, like moving Hollywood Week to Nashville and adding a new 'Ohana Round voting twist. It also had the show’s first live voting hiccup before wrapping up with a three-hour finale in May.
Hannah Harper ended up winning Season 24, beating finalists Jordan McCullough and Keyla Richardson.
