The Trip: This Is Us "There"

With Madison going into labor, will Kevin get there in time with her?

As Kevin is about to shoot his next scene with Robert DeNiro, he gets a call from Madison about her going into early labor.  Kevin drives to the closest airport to get to Madison but gets derailed when he spots an accident he helped take to the hospital.

While Kevin is driving, we see a flashback when Kevin and Jack go to football camp, and Jack learns why Kevin hasn't been excited but nervous. Kevin tells Jack what he had heard from him and that his coach would call him names like stupid. Let's say that Jack took care of that and learned a bit about what Jack went through with his dad when he was in minor-league baseball.

Now, the question is whether Kevin got to the airport in time to get to Madison. After helping the victim out of his car and dropping him off at the hospital, Kevin drops his wallet at the accident scene and tries to get on that plane.

The moment comes when Madison, alone and scared, gets a call from Randall and Beth, driving back from Louisiana. She was given encouraging words but stayed on the phone with her. Hence, she's not alone because she's family.

Uh! Tissues, please!

"There" was such a beautiful and heart-tugging episode. The performances from Justin Harley were so good as we see his character drop everything from the movie to trying to be there for Madison, which he's trying to live up to his father's example.

But that moment, that moment when Randall and Beth call Madison, really got me in tears. That comforted her that she's never alone and has a family with the Pearsons.

The one issue I have was the promo for this episode that showed the car accident and Kevin's wallet. As much as I was caught off guard by that promo, I thought Kevin would be himself in an accident. There were scenes of him driving crazy that would prove he would be in an accident. But the writers love to play games, I guess.

I think it is still a 50/50 shot that Kevin will get there. He's at the airport, and there's a good chance that they'll give him a direct flight to Los Angeles. But also, let's not forget Kate and Toby's child are set to be born. If those babies of Kate and Madison's are held on the same day, there's your new big three!

Anyway, overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
