Talk about facing the situation this week on Chicago Med.
As Auggie takes a turn for the worst, Maggie has run out of options, but it comes with a high risk with Goodwin finding a donor match. Maggie and Ben filed to be Auggie's foster parents.
Just as he was about to have surgery, the DCFS stopped that, as they usually do in these cases. But just like earlier, Goodwin comes through and gets the DCFS to accept Auggie's surgery.
Crockett and Natalie take care of a patient in a work accident, but what they would find during surgery would catch them up by surprise. They discover that she has cancer, and that's just the start; she denies any surgery or treatment after seeing her mother pass away from cancer.
That is until Crockett got personal with the patient with a story about his daughter, in which she finally changed her mind.
April and Ethan treated a patient (that hits close to home for me) who came in after collapsing. But that's not what he's complaining about, as he's having severe pain seen through many and was put through many different things that didn't take the pain away.
That is until Ethan finally caught a break and research that provided that the patient haseminal neuralgia. It's often a missed diagnosis, and I would know something about that. More on that later.
Dr. Charles learns about Anna's pregnancy and tries to reason with her. Soon, when he gets home, she's having some complications and loses the baby.
As Halstead prepares for his presentation on the clinical trial, he and Ethan have another fallout after Ethan asks him to push his meeting back to help the ED. After giving a good presentation, Will might consider a career change.
"Don't Want to Face This Now" was an excellent episode, mainly from Maggie and Auggie's story to even Ethan and April's patient as well. I thought that Auggie's health was going to end up the way that it did. This isn't the last time they'll face another health scare with Auggie.
While Ethan and April's patient hit close to home, at the same time, it was a genuine ffgenuinelyut after hearing him about toothache and multiple doctors seeing what had done nothing, that reminded me of my grandmother who had the same problem.
The late nights of screaming in pain and the first hospital visit were a joke as they thought it was dental (even though she had false teeth). But when my mother saw how it worked, she finally saw someone and quickly diagnosed it as trigeminal neuralgia.
Crockett showing his emotional side was good and moving at the end when we finally not only learn about his daughter, but the stuff that his ex brought over was, in fact, his daughter's stuff. Good!
Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.
