A Season Burning Brighter: Chicago Fire Season 9 (Episode 7-16)

Season Nine of Chicago Fire burns so brightly with such amazing stories. Once again, this season was a step up from last season, even though we got a shorter season. Here's a recap and thoughts.

Cruz finally tells the firehouse that Chloe is pregnant and that it's a boy. But deals are almost getting cut from a big piece of shrapnel during a call. Even after rescuing an investor, the guy offers Cruz money to make his shamigan big. But when Cruz realizes it would take most of his time away from being a firefighter and family, he decides to deal with the business.

Mouch becomes a big hero this season after saving a victim before the fire blew up. And he was awarded a medal. We saw Ritter helping a homeless young girl get her life in order after she helped 51 track down the arsonist.

While Mackey just joined 51 this season, she leaves after showing her true talents at a firefighter's training along with Gallo, Ritter, and Mouch. Violet becomes the new member of 51 and Ambulance 61, making Gallo's life hell, but in a good way.

Is it me, or do Gallo, Ritter, and Violet remind me of Mouch, Herrmann, and Shay during the early seasons?

Stella had forgiven Severide for his actions. As she takes her lieutenant's exam, she goes above and beyond to help save one of her girl's fire members, who was held captive. But as for the exam, Stella passed. But there's a catch as there's no spot at 51, so she's awaiting a place.

Not to mention, Severide tries to figure out how to ask Stella to marry her and picks the perfect moment while trapped in a fire. Perfection!

As for my favorite storyline this season, whether or not Brett and Casey will be in a relationship. Brett starts seeing Granger, another firefighter, but it doesn't last long as he notices she spends too much with Casey. Even when she's by his side, awaiting the results of his head trauma exam. Granger ends things and tells Casey that she has feelings for him.

Casey goes all out and tells Brett he had feelings for her, not Dawson. As the season finale comes into play, we see Brett getting signs that maybe Casey is the one. Late at night, as Casey watches the city, Brett comes out and tells him she loves him too. Damn, I'm getting emotional and goosebumps as I write it out.

The season finale ends with Boden might be getting a promotion. But it's the entire Squad 3 team trapped in a flipped-over boat. They are trapped and low on oxygen. Yikes!!

I loved season nine of Chicago Fire. This season, I had many memorable moments, mostly Severide asking Kidd to marry him. But let me be honest: the Brett and Casey storyline was my favorite.

I can't wait for Season 10! Wait a minute, ten seasons of Chicago Fire. Wow! It's hard to believe this show has aired for ten years. I can't wait to see where our characters go and what changes. Plus, the 200th episode! That's going to be big!

Overall, I give this season a 9.5/10.
