Archie Panjabi is back in the second season of the Canadian mystery drama Departure. If you enjoyed the first season, you'll enjoy this new season.
In the second season, Panjabi's character, Kendra Malley, is being brought in to investigate the deadly crash of a highly profiled electric train. The question lies in whether it was mechanical or system malfunction, as the six episodes in this season will go through every possible detail until the end.
Along with Panjabi, who gave another fantastic performance, Christopher Plummer reprised his role as Howard Lawson. If you remember, Plummer's character was arrested and charged for being involved in that season one mystery plane crash.
While Plummer filmed all his scenes from his Connecticut home due to COVID-19 restrictions, it would be his last on-screen performance before his death in February 2021. Plummer does give one hell of a performance. His final scene in the finale felt like a goodbye.
I enjoyed the second season of Departure. I thought the story was vital as it kept me interested and kept me guessing who the suspect or suspects may be. While the season wraps up both the first and second seasons, it sets up a potential third season, planning to film soon with Eric McCormick's cast.
Overall, I give this season a 9/10.
