Feeling It: Chicago PD "Blood Bleeds Blue"

Well, if the season premiere was an intense event, this week's episode was another one and more. Here's a recap.

Picking up seconds after last week's episode where Ruzek and Martel get ambushed with gunshots, you can see Ruzek just in a fight or flight mode and trying to hold it together. Just as backup comes, he and Officer Cook make their way to the house where the shots were fired, only to see that a mother was shot and that her ex-husband not only shot her but was taking her baby away as well.

Throughout the episode, Intelligence fights through their emotions until they capture the suspect. Ruzek held on the most as he fought back while chasing the suspect by car. Even when talking to Voight about Martel, who was shot in the head and died on arrival at Med, it was tough for him to talk about.

While on the chase, they learn that the suspect was trying to get his kids together and end both their lives. Torres finds the older kid and has to talk him down to give him the gun that the kid stole from his uncle so he could stop his father after he learned that he shot her mother.

Cook and Ruzek soon spot the suspect getting into another car and start a nice chase, where they stop his vehicle. However, just when they walk toward him, the suspect starts the car and drives off, and Cook also goes for a ride. But the suspect gets shot by Cook and crashes; Ruzek tries to get the kid out, but the suspect tries to attack him. Ruzek gives him a few knuckle sandwiches and walks away with the kid, and the car explodes in flames.

"Blood Bleeds Blue" was another fantastic episode, probably better than last week's. This was such a solid character-driven episode with Ruzek being the focus but not to mention how others like Voight, Turdy, Atwater, and Torres were affected by Martel's death as well.

Patrick Flueger gives his best performance in this episode with so much emotion. Even Amy Morton has given her best supporting role so far. I feel like anytime Trudy is in "game mode" when it comes to these kinds of emergencies, she provides us with such emotions. And Toya Turner's first episode was amazing as Officer Cook, as she really took some beatings in this episode.

When Gavin Harris writes an episode, there is no disappointment; you know what you are in for with character-driven, solid stories.

Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
