Realizing The Picture: Chicago Fire "Ride The Blade"

This week's episode was a doozy. Here's a recap of Chicago Fire's "Ride the Blade."

Will Severide have second thoughts about Damon being at Firehouse 51? After what happened after a boating accident at a lakeside cafe, Damon didn't follow Kidd's orders and jumped to help Severide and Squad. Damon tried to downplay after the call to Kidd that he didn't hear her, but he sure did, and even Severide saw that.

Kidd realizes that Damon needs to get a taste of what Squad is all about and allows him after asking Severide to take some drills with his team. While that didn't go too well with Cruz, Severide got a wake-up call after listening to Cruz about his history with his little brother, which made Severide tell Kidd the truth. That leads to Damon and Severide talking, and he tells Damon that they can't work at the same firehouse.

Pascal feels upset when he hears his wife talking to another firefighter while she is in Chicago and he is still in Miami. That leads to Pascal not only showing some anger issues (punching the boxing bag, for one) but also taking it out on another firefighter who has talked with his wife. I kind of wonder if he has some jealousy issues.

Herrmann is on the call to look for the scent that had turned Cindy in love with him. After testing out the soaps at the firehouse, he realizes that the smell is from a guy that he helped Voliet seek treatment after the boat accident. That leads Herrmann and Ritter to visit the guy and find out that the so-called "scent" is actually medicine for his psoriasis, and they bought it for a pretty penny.

While Violet hopes to talk with Carver, she takes Novak's advice and goes out with a guy she knows would be great for her. After a drink or two, Violet isn't feeling it from him and decides to leave, even sending a message to Carver that she misses him.

"Ride the Blade" was a delicious hour of drama, with tension between Severide, Kidd, and Damon and how that's affecting the firehouse on call and in the house. I loved that Cruz got through to Severide about how he dealt with taking care of his little brother, balancing work and family life, and breaking the rules. We remember what happened to Herrmann in season four.

Could it be a cheating thing or more of a jealous mind, making Pascal think it is too much of something not worth worrying about? But it's becoming interesting, and I hope this story can last until the midseason to find out the real deal. But Truck 81 has a better excuse for its turnover rate than the Cubs (that's management issues for not thinking wise).

Severide doesn't tell Kidd the whole truth and wonders if he will or not about him being his brother. The only reason why Damon thought that Kidd was out to get him was that we all felt that he was some spy to take down Boden and 51.

Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
