#FBIFam, get excited because another fantastic spinoff in the FBI series is coming!
On Wednesday, TVLine reported that another FBI spinoff is in the works at CBS and looks to air a backdoor pilot set to air this spring.
FBI: CIA is the latest spinoff in the FBI series. It's about a dedicated, strait-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent who join forces to solve and prevent domestic terrorism in and around New York City. Casting is underway for three series of regular roles for the potential spinoff, which will air its pilot as a springtime episode of FBI. FBI: CIA would premiere during the 2025-2026 TV season if ordered to series.
Along with Dick Wolf, David Hudgins (FBI: Most Wanted), Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel), and David Chasteen (former CIA officer, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan technical consultant) will serve as writing executive producers on the Universal Television/CBS Studios co-production, while Peter Jankowski will have a non-writing EP credit.
FBI: CIA marks the latest of several spinoffs currently in the CBS/Paramount production pipeline from Fire Country to The Equalizer and The Neighborhood spinoffs in the works. FBI is presently the third-most-watched broadcast drama of the 2024-2025 TV season, averaging 8 million total viewers (with delayed playback) and trailing only CBS's Tracker and Matlock.
If the latest spinoff gets ordered into a series, what will happen to one of the other FBI spinoffs? There have been some online talks that FBI Most Wanted might be ending after this season (due to the ratings it's been having this season). Maybe FBI: CIA could be a shorter season series along with one of the others like International.

You can catch The FBI's returning next Tuesday beginning at 8/7c on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.
