CBS Fall 2022 Schedule: SWAT And Ghosts on the Move

 On Wednesday morning, CBS became the third network to release its fall 2022 schedule after NBC and ABC had done but not FOX (quite yet). So, what to expect in the new schedule? 

SWAT is returning to its Friday leadoff spot, where it will kick off the new firefighter drama, Fire Country (starring SEAL Team's Max Thieriot). NCIS: Los Angeles will, in turn, move an hour later on Sundays, which will make way for the new cop drama, East New York.

The newest reality series, The Real Love Boat, will close out Wednesday night, anchored by the new seasons of Survivor and The Amazing Race. 

And Thursdays look to be a bit different, with only two Thursday sitcoms now, Young Sheldon and Ghosts (moving a half-hour earlier), which will kick off into the freshman dramedy So Help Me Todd (Starring Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin). While CSI: Vegas' second season will close out the night.

CBS made some changes and added more new shows to its fall schedule compared to NBC (two new shows) and ABC (three new shows). CBS has gone back to two comedies and two dramas for their Thursday night lineup (something they haven't done since the 2012-2013 season). 

Fire Country and East New York look promising from the trailers, but I still have some doubts about So Help Me Todd.

The schedule looks solid, and I look forward to the new seasons of CBS' Tuesday night and Thursday night. I wonder if they will kick off SEAL Team's new season by airing on CBS for a couple of weeks and airing the rest on Paramount+ because I thought that was a brilliant move to kick off the newly rebranded streaming service.

CBS Renews FBI Franchise for Two More Seasons

 

Looks like the FBI franchise will be solving more crimes for the next few years on CBS.

On Monday, CBS announced that the Dick Wolf series has been renewed; FBI returning for a fifth and sixth season, FBI Most Wanted to return for a fourth and fifth season, and FBI International returning for the second and third season. 

"The FBIs are one of the most successful brands n the entire TV landscape and a powerful cornerstone of our number one lineup," said Kelly Hahl, President of CBS Entertainment. "They've attracted a dedicated, loyal fan base, thanks to the extraridudary vision of executive producer Dick Wolf and the talents of all three outstanding cast and creative team. I know we and our viewers look forward to two additional seasons of engaging, heroic stories."

After CBS renewed The Equalizer for a two-season pick-up last week, the news comes. And It follows renewals for the majority of CBS' dramas slates that includes NCIS Franchise, CSI: Vegas, S.W.A.T., as well as comedies like Young Sheldon, The Neighborhood, Ghosts, and Bob Hearts Abishola. 

The news is exciting and expected since this is the network's biggest franchise right now. I've been a fan of FBI and FBI Most Wanted and look forward to seeing where they will be going. As of FBI International, I've yet to see it but will be catching up before the new season begins.

CBS 2021 Fall Schedule: FBI Tuesdays; NCIS Moves to Mondays

On Wednesday, CBS becomes the third broadcast network to announced their fall 2021 schedule and it looks like a big move is coming for NCIS. 

After 18 years as CBS's Tuesday night lead-off, NCIS will be relocating to Mondays at 9pm, where it will lead into new spinoff NCIS: Hawai'i. The move allows CBS to rebrand Tuesday nights as an all FBI night. This will give the #OneChicago and Law & Order creator Dick Wolf three nights of primetime next season. 

As for CBS's Monday night shake-up, Bull will be relocating to Thursdays at 10 pm. While The CSI revival will close out CBS' reality dominated Wednesdays at 10pm and the long-delayed second season of Blood and Treasure has been delayed until 2022. 

SEAL Team will air its first four Season 5 episodes on Sundays at 10pm before jumping to CBS sibling streaming outlet, Paramount+. Meanwhile the former Wednesday occupants S.W.A.T. will then take over that Sunday slot following a brief run on Fridays at 8pm (the former MacGyver's timeslot will eventually be filled with an unscripted series soon to be announced).

I'm liking the new moves that CBS has made for this fall. I'm so looking forward to Tuesday nights with the FBI fam! Monday nights look good with NCIS and NCIS Hawai'i. Bull moving to Thursdays isn't that bad, it's been a nice rating sample for the network on Monday nights.

FBI "Unreasonable Doubt"/ FBI Most Wanted "Execute" Episode Previews

Here's a preview of this week's episodes of FBI and FBI Most Wanted.

FBI "Unreasonable Doubt" 

The team races against the clock to stop an active serial killer after three women are found weighted down at the bottom of a lake. And Jubal looks into an old closed case after there are multiple similarities to the recent victims.

FBI Most Wanted "Execute"

When a hacker triggers a car crash that kills a family of three, the team races to hunt him down as his ransomware demands escalate and his chilling final target becomes apparent.

This week's new episodes look to be a chilling one from what the promos have shown. Looks like we're gonna be taken back to Jubal's past to find the killer and a nice high-tech crime sounds good to me. I can't wait!!

Family: FBI: Most Wanted "Rampage" Season Premiere

 The season premiere of FBI Most Wanted can be about one thing for Agent LaCroix, and that is family. 

I thought that the season premiere this week was good, with LaCroix, his daughter, and his family meeting his dad and an uninvited guest to stay for the weekend or so. While LaCroix's drama had just begun, a massive shooting in different spots had got him and his team on the hunt. 

The team later finds out that one of the shooters happens to be someone who hasn't had a good life with the death of his mother, abusive father, and the love of art that he loves. LaCroix and the team find out that he's working with someone manipulating the kid to help him shoot people who have done wrong to them, from rich people to even the guy's ex-wife. 

LaCroix and the team send a message out to the kid by using his art teacher, whom he admires. Later, as they find the van used in the shooting and find the shooter but not the kid, LaCroix knows where he might be: his mother's grave site. That's when LaCroix talked him down and took him in. 

After all that, LaCroix has a family dinner with his father and the rest. But he tries to pick at him for gambling when he last attends a meeting. It goes back and forth until his father's friend stops the conversation and gets LaCroix's dad to tell him the news: they're getting married. Yikes!!!

I thought that"Rampage" was an excellent episode. I felt that the kid's character development was so good and showed who he was and the whole meaning of what had turned this kid into being a part of such a thing. Terry O'Quinn's appearance splashes in the season premiere as LaCroix's father.  I can't wait to see what comes next! 

Overall, the episode kept me on my toes throughout the show. So, I give this episode a 9/10.

FBI Most Wanted Season 1

 

This summer, I got to catch up on last season's best new series, FBI Most Wanted. Here are my thoughts!

FBI Most Wanted feels like the lovechild of the FBI and Chicago PD with a traveling van. That may sound bad but let me tell you, it's not, as it's pretty much my new favorite Dick Wolf series to date so far and could be better than its predecessor, CBS's FBI. 

The concept is that this FBI task force solves crimes and hunts down criminals now placed on their most wanted list in the same style as any crime procedure drama. The characters are grounded, mostly Jess LaCroix, played by Jullian McMahon. We see a balance of work and family life and that he's trying to help the suspects without getting into a bad situation. 

And this ensemble cast is fun and exciting to watch from Kenny Crosby, who reminds me a bit of the lovechild of Jay Halstead and Adam Ruzek for some reason. Keisha Castle-Hughes as Hana Gibson is my favorite character other than LaCroix on this show as the group's high-tech. 

The stories in season one were solid and intriguing and had me on the edge of my seat, like episodes "Defender," "Invisible," "Ghost," and "Getaway," to name a few. But let's face it, if you are a fan of the show like me, the best episode was the crossover with FBI, which has the slight edge as the best two-show crossover last season (edging out with Chicago Fire and PD). That episode had so many cringe moments, but it was so good.

I highly recommend watching FBI Most Wanted. If you like crime-procurement shows that follow the clues, strong storytelling, and a tremendously solid ensemble cast, this show is for you. I give Season 1 a 9/10.

FBI and FBI Most Wanted Season Premiere Promos

 

The latest new promo for CBS's FBI and FBI Most Wanted was released Sunday. 

For FBI going into its third season, not a whole lot is given except that they're gonna need all hands on deck. While FBI Most Wanted that's going into its second season, gives a teaser of how they dive into the criminal's mind to solve the crime. 

It may not be much, but it gets me excited about the return for these shows.

CBS Sets Pemieres for NCIS, All Rise, and More in November

 

Looks like CBS will have a fall season after all.

On Tuesday, the eye network has released dates or nine of their 18 returning shows, now that there are full episodes in the can. Show that include NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS Los Angeles, Young Sheldon, and Mom. 

Also scoring a premiere date us the freshman comedy B Positive starring Thomas Middleditch and Annaleigh Ashford. 

Also note: There will be "Fan Favorite" episodes from NCIS previous 17 seasons will be closing out Sunday nights starting  Nov.8th until Queen Latifah's The Equalizer is ready to join the mix (where it will lead into NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS New Orleans).

Fall Shows Still Awaiting Premiere Dates: Blue Bloods, Bull, The Equalizer, Evil, FBI, FBI Most Wanted, MacGyver, Magnum P.I, SEAL Team, and The Unicorn.

So it looks like now that CBS has their foot in the door for premiere dates in November. I'm thrilled that these shows are back, especially hearing that All Rise has its premiere set date. I think FBI and FBI Most Wanted will be making their premieres in November. If not then I think they could possibly keep them til the new year for backup purposes.

Blue Bloods Alum and Lost Alum Joins FBI Most Wanted

Looks like a familiar face is returning to CBS. 

Deadline is reporting that Amy Carlson is returning to CBS, after three years since the Blue Bloods blindsided reveal that her character, Linda Reagan, had been killed off, off-screen.

Carlson is set to be in a recurring role during Season 2 of FBI: Most Wanted as Jackie Ward, a veteran bounty hunter who has previously crossed paths with Julian McMahon's Jess. Jess describes her as "a force of nature" and "good at her job," but a "thorn in the (FBI) team's side."

Since leaving Blue Bloods, Carlson has had roles on NBC's The Village, Netflix's The Society. Her previous TV credits also include Law & Order: Trial by Jury, Third Watch, and Another World. 

Also, in addition, Lost alum Terry O'Quinn will recur on FBI Most Wanted as Bryon Lacroix, Jess's divorced father who has "a big personality and a gambling addiction." We did get a couple of stories in Season One about their relationship. 

FBI Most Wanted is scheduled to return with Season 2 sometime this early November-ish...

This should be a fun season for Jess Lacroix. I think that the addition of Carlson for this season sounds interesting and exciting. While I'm not a fan of Blue Bloods, I was a fan of her in Third Watch and Law & Order: Trial By Jury. And the addition of O'Quinn should be very good as I just finished watching the first season of Most Wanted and listening to some of Lacroix's stories about his dad sounds something exciting to explore.

FBI Season 2 Review

 

In the second season of CBS's FBI, I made additional adjustments that made the series even better. Here are my thoughts. 

While I liked and enjoyed the first season of FBI, the second season got even better with the additional cast changes. 

John Boyd joins the team as Agent Stuart Scola, who teams up with Kristen Chazal. And not to mention adding Alana de la Garza, as SAC Isobel Castille, to the series after being part of the backdoor pilot for FBI Most Wanted. 

The addition of Boyd and Garza changed the series in a different tone and brought some outstanding storylines from "Little Egypt" that showed Garza's character put her stamp on how she runs things with the team. 

"Ties That Bind" and "Fallout" were excellent non-two-part episodes dealing with how Boyd's character didn't critique his partner's work enough, which soon ended her getting stabbed in the field while taking down a wanted suspect. 

Once again, Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki are some of the best new TV television partnerships. It's a partnership that I still see as the Stabler and Benson on this series. 

Jeremy Sisto steals the series for me as Jubal Valentine, the assistant special agent in charge. Jubal knows how to catch bad guys, and the way he talks with the analysis team is just excellent.  

The series had some incredible episodes from "Legacy," "Safe Room," and "Outsider." One of my favorites in the second season was "Codename: Ferdinand," which kept me on the edge of my seat with suspense. 

While I thought "Studio Gangster" and "Payback" were good, they just didn't have a lot going on in the character development in the episodes. 

Plus, the season got two crossovers with FBI Most Wanted that dealt with the hijacking of 26 elementary students kidnapped by a white supremacist. At the same time, FBI fugitive Taskforce Jess LaCroix's daughter is taken during an ICE raid. The episodes were as perfect in story and character development as they could have gotten.  

The one crossover I wouldn't think happened is the FBI-Cicago PD crossover, as Detective Hailey Upton joins the FBI New York team as part of a training program. This was after Voight sent her over due to her decision-making in Season 7 of Chicago PD. All I will say is that I wanted more.

 Watching Tracy Spiridakos teaming up with Zaki was so damn good as they playoff with the jokes (Chicago pizza vs. New York pizza) and the bonding. I will go out on a limb and say we could be looking at a two-network, three-night, six-show crossover. And that is something that I want to see. 

Overall, the second season of The FBI improved from the first season with character development and the stories. I love this ensemble cast. I don't know about you, but after watching all 19 episodes of season two, I'm looking to see what Season three has in store for us. I give this second season a 9/10.

CBS Shifts Return Shows to November; Changes Fall Lineup

We knew this was going to happen.

On Wednesday, CBS has announced that they're juggling of the fall lineup with shows like Star Trek: Discovery and others that had been acquired to buy time unit NCIS and Young Sheldon return with new episodes.

CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl said in a statement, "This is hardly a traditional fall season, but we are prepared with a strong slate of original content while our regular scripted series begin production. (We) hope to start rolling out our previously announced fall series as they become available in November."

Along with the beaming of Discovery's Season One voyage premiering on Thursday night lineup, CBS will use Season four of the acclaimed Netflix turned PopTV sitcom One Day at a Time to occupy some of the Monday lineups. Along with Manhunt: Deadly Games, a Spectrum's true crime anthology, will close out Mondays starting September 21st.

With shows looking to begin production the end of August to sometime in September; this is what was expected to come with networks acquiring other shows from streaming services and other broadcasting networks to fulfill the network with fresh content.

The lineup for the beginning of the fall looks okay (in my opinion). The one thing I'm really looking forward to seeing One Day at a Time return to the original series' network. And maybe, just maybe I might check out Star Trek Discovery that people are so divided about.

CBS 2020-2021 Fall Lineup

It's been almost a week since CBS announced it's renewals and cancellations of their 2019-2020 shows and on Tuesday they announced their fall lineup with the only expectation that they haven't got a date yet. Like The CW and Fox, CBS is not saying when it's the new season will launch, the fact that its very stable new schedule is being billed as a "fall" lineup that's been suggested by the execs, who ae somewhat optimistic.

Along with the news, The Amazing Race will follow Survivor on Wednesday, which bumps S.W.A.T. to midseason. Chuck Lorre's new sitcom B Positive has scored the Thursday's post-Young Sheldon perch, sending The Unicorn to 9:30pm.

Also, The Queen Latifah-lead Equalizer reboot will follow 60 Minutes on Sunday, replacing the called God Friended Me. And the new Silence of the Lambs sequel series Clarice is being held for midseason. And the network is looking into a second spinoff in the FBI series.

It looks like CBS is keeping their lineup close to the vest and hoping that they can get their fall lineup by September or so. We will just have to wait and see where things will stand since production starts around June.

CBS Renews FBI, FBI Most Wanted and All Rise

The jury is out as CBS renews three of their dramas!

On Wednesday, CBS has started the renewal and chopping off their shows. Three of them happen to be FBI, FBI Most Wanted and All Rise.

Along with them, the network also renewed 20 other programs as well. FBI just finished their second season; ending the season with a crossover with Chicago PD. FBI Most Wanted and All Rise just finished their freshmen season this week.

I'm super excited for CBS to renew these series as these were the only three series that I've been enjoying after last season cancellation of Life In Pieces.
