Summer's heating up, and so is my watchlist. From revivals to assassins, here are my top five TV shows to watch this July.
July is heating up with a delightful lineup of new premieres and exciting returns! Whether you're a fan of thrillers, enjoy revisits to favorite series, or crave heartfelt dramas, there's truly something for everyone to enjoy. From captivating Stephen King adaptations to gripping murder mysteries and assassin stories, let me share with you my top five most anticipated shows this month. You're bound to find something that catches your eye!
5. The Institute -MGM+ (Premieres July 13th)
Based on Stephen King's novel, The Institute follows a teen who wakes up in a facility for kids with psychic powers, where nothing is as it seems. Starring Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Barnes, and Joe Freeman, this one gives off Stranger Things vibes with a darker, more unsettling edge. You had me at Mary-Louise Parker.
4. Dexter: Resurrection - Paramount+ with Showtime (Premieres July 11th)
America's favorite serial killer returns. Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter, now stalking the streets of New York City in a gritty, modern revival that promises twists, new blood, and plenty of morally gray decisions. A-list guest stars are also expected to join the chaos. It's Dexter in NYC with a fresh supporting cast... yes, please!
3. Twisted Metal- Peaocok (Season 2 Premieres July 31st)
Season 1 was chaotic, hilarious, and full-throttle fun. Now, season two kicks off with the start of the big tournament. Expect even more mayhem, action, and irreverent humor as this video game-inspired world grows even wilder.
2. Poker Face - Peacock (Season 2 ongoing)
Charlie is still on the run, still solving murders in season two. As of now, Charlie has crashed at Good Buddy's place in NYC and is forming a new friendship while her knack for catching lies continues to pull her into wild, often hilarious whodunits. Season two has been a blast, and I can't wait to see how the season will end.
Catch up with my recap/review of this season of Poker Face.
1. The Assassin-Prime Video (Premieres July 25)
A retired assassin (Keeley Hawes) living in Greece is pulled back into danger when her estranged son comes seeking answers about her past. Look out, Eddie Redmayne and Elisabeth Moss, Keeley Hawes is coming for your title as a deadly assassin.
