Deals with the Devil: Ironheart (Episodes 4-6)

The final three episodes of Disney+'s Ironheart aired this week, and the question is: did the series stick the landing or fizzle out? Here's my thoughts.

After watching the last three episodes (yes, they all dropped that fast), I've reached the conclusion that this series, while promising, ultimately fell short of its potential. However, there's one major moment that made my jaw drop: Riri's encounter with Mephisto, his long-awaited debut in the MCU. After defeating Parker, Riri faces the demon himself, who offers her a deal similar to the one he made with Parker before. What he offers is exactly what Riri cares about most.

And here's the twist... she takes his offer and gets Natalie back from the dead.

It was an undeniably bold move that prevented the finale from feeling completely hollow. The moral ambiguity of Riri accepting help from a villain to recover someone she lost adds a depth that the series had been missing in the MCU. While it might not be the payoff everyone was expecting, it was easily the most compelling moment of the entire run.

Unfortunately, the rest of the episodes didn't quite live up to expectations. Like many recent MCU shows, Ironheart struggles with pacing and logic. The idea that Riri and her friends could rebuild her Iron Man-level suit in a matter of days strains credibility. And the lack of development for side characters, especially Parker's crew, left most subplots feeling unfinished or unearned.

Speaking of Parker, his arc was one of the show's biggest letdowns. Given all the power he supposedly received from Mephisto, it's hard to believe his grand motivation boiled down to petty revenge on his dad. It made him feel less like a formidable villain and more like an afterthought with a cape.

The ending was a bit disappointing, but there was a surprising twist that almost made up for it. It's also interesting to see how Disney released all episodes in just two weeks, which usually hints at low confidence in the series. Coupled with the limited buzz outside of review-bombing, it doesn't inspire much hope for a second season. However, if Ironheart gets renewed, there's an exciting story to explore: how Natalie's return (courtesy of Mephisto) will influence Riri's future. That moral dilemma could be really compelling if the writers dive deeper next time. Overall, I’d rate the last three episodes a solid 7 out of 10.
