Code of Silence: Episodes 4 & 5: A Tense Journey to the Finale

Before the season finale of Code of Silence arrives tomorrow, let’s take a look back at episodes four and five, which raised the stakes for Alison in both her personal and professional life.

Episode 4 – Lines Crossed

Can Alison really balance her responsibilities as a police officer with her growing relationship with Liam? This episode explored that tension beautifully. Alison and Liam’s lavish hotel trip, courtesy of Helen, started as a romantic escape under false identities. But cracks quickly showed when Alison tried to reach out to Ashleigh, leading to suspicion on Liam’s end.

The highlight was Liam testing Alison’s lip-reading ability, using a father–daughter conversation as a seed for his next heist. It was clever, tense, and unsettling especially once Liam realized Alison had been in touch with the police. Their romance, once thrilling, suddenly felt like a dangerous game.

This installment was a strong mix of emotion and suspense, setting up the heartbreak to come. 8.5/10.

Episode 5 – No Turning Back

Alison found herself at a crossroads: loyalty to her job or to Liam. Seeking guidance from her father was an unexpected and touching move, showing how torn she’s become. But the plot quickly escalated as Liam and Branden’s necklace heist took shape.

The twists came fast Alison’s devices being synced to Liam’s phone, the realization that the target was the hotel, and her frantic attempt to warn Ashleigh. Despite the warnings, Alison rushed into danger, only to witness Branden shoot DC Lawford as Liam slipped away with the necklace. The episode came full circle, tying back to Alison’s police station interrogation from episode 1, and leaving us with the devastating reveal: Liam had manipulated everyone.

This episode was gripping from start to finish. Rose Ayling-Ellis delivered her strongest performance yet, particularly in Alison’s conflicted moments between love and duty. The emotional beats hit hard, and the setup for the finale is pitch-perfect. 9/10

Final Thoughts

Episodes 4 and 5 brought the series to a boiling point—equal parts thrilling and heartbreaking. Alison’s trust in Liam shattered, but her future now hangs in the balance. Will she face consequences for trying to fix her mistakes? And can Liam really get away with everything? Tomorrow’s finale has a lot to deliver, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends.
