In the penultimate episode, the Task Force faces someone ahead of them in the game, despite their closeness. Here's my recap and thoughts.
A New Kind of Threat
When the Governor's Press Security is assassinated by Todd, the Task Force tries to find anything that Todd might have taken, but in this case, he didn't take anything at all. Bell receives a tip from one of the officers at the scene that helps guide them to finding that Todd had left something in Press Security's car, a note inside the car's door AC vent.
That note leads them to a bar where Oliveras, Meachum, and others go inside. Oliveras gets word that Todd left her an envelope, assuming she was a cop, but she plays it down. Meachum gets a strange feeling and later spots someone taking photos of Oliveras and Bell, who must be Todd. Just as Meachum gets close to him, gunshots go off, and Todd escapes, but not before we see him listening to conservative talk radio, which has fueled his actions.
Character & Conundrum
Meanwhile, Shepherd learns that her sister wants a restart and later bonds with her as they did when they were kids. Blythe faces criticism from his boss for advising the Governor and President to cancel their event due to Todd's danger.
My Thoughts
"This Is His Signature" is another excellent episode that really builds up to an exciting finale you won't want to miss. The character of Todd has been both vicious and intelligent, especially with his clever way of leaving clues for the Task Force to discover—a character that even Volchek can't quite compare to. The story was well-crafted, with a solid buildup throughout. Shepherd and her sister shared a meaningful moment to step back from the case and connect, something they haven't done in a long time. It raises questions about whether something will happen to them or others in the Task Force, especially since the trailer hints that someone is in danger and silent, possibly suggesting that Meachum and Oliveras will finally kiss.
Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10.
What did you think of this week's episode of Countdown? What do you think will happen in the finale? Leave your comments.
You can catch the season finale of Countdown on Prime Video.
I agree with you that the Molly conduct reversal sets the stage for a heartbreaking scanning the season finale. But Todd has photos of Bell and Oliveras so they are in the hopper. But u just never know with deranged folks. I thought this an excellent episode for getting us to next season
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that eventually someone would find Penny. Maybe she was chipped and that would help break the case!
