Recap: Ghosts "It's a Wonderful Christmas Carol Fall Finale

In this festive fall finale of Ghosts for Christmas, Sam gets an intriguing glimpse of what her life might be like if she could never see the ghosts. Will she embrace this new perspective or decide to take it all back? Here's a warm recap and review of "It's a Wonderful Christmas Carol."

The stakes are high for Sam as a major live TV interview regarding her book approaches. However, the holiday spirit goes sideways when Thor tries to give Flower a gift using his electricity powers. The resulting shock causes Flower to accidentally possess Sam right as the camera crew arrives. Driven by Flower’s "munchies," Sam ends up attempting to devour the mansion’s entire gingerbread house on live television.

Furious that the ghosts didn't prevent the possession, a frustrated Sam wishes she had never received her powers in the first place. Enter Carol (Pete’s late wife), serving as this episode’s version of Clarence. She shows Sam a dark, alternate reality of what life would be like without the ghosts: Sam and Jay’s marriage is crumbling, and Hetty and Isaac are married to one another, and Sam is reduced to sending "sexy pics" to Trevor via text.

Realizing that her life, while chaotic, is infinitely better with her ghost family, Sam wishes for her old life back. She "wakes up" just in time for the interview.

Back in reality, the ghosts realize they need to make amends. They work together to create distractions for the TV crew, giving Sam enough time to be "un-possessed" by Flower. The interview is a success, though Sam is left wondering if her vision was a miracle, a dream, or just a side effect of Flower’s lingering "herbal" influence.

The episode ends with a massive shake-up for Trevor. After bonding (and sharing a kiss) with Patience over their mutual hatred of Christmas, Trevor thinks he's off the hook when she disappears. However, Patience returns with a vengeance, and she’s brought three of her fellow Puritan ghosts with her. It looks like the basement just got a lot more crowded.

"It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol" was a delightful homage to the holiday classic. It charmingly explores how, even though ghosts can sometimes be a bother, they really are the heart that keeps Sam and Jay’s adventurous lives so lively. The quirky pairing of Trevor and Patience brings a unique, "weird but wonderful" energy that adds a fresh twist of conflict, especially now that Hetty faces some real competition. The suspenseful cliffhanger, with more Puritans arriving, promises an exciting and high-stakes comeback for the series. All in all, I’d happily rate this episode an 8/10.

What did you think of this episode? What did you think of the Hetty/Isaac marriage in the alternate reality? And do you think Trevor can handle a relationship with four intense Puritans? Leave a comment.

Ghosts will return with new episodes on February 26, 2026.
