Spoiler alert: the finale’s final twist completely redefines everything you thought you knew.
Talk about a finale that completely upends expectations. The Crow Girl saves its most significant twist for last, thoroughly recontextualizing everything previously understood about the murder investigation and delivering one of the most unsettling conclusions of the season.
The revelation that Victoria Burkeman and Dr. Sophia Craven are, in fact, the same person is genuinely shocking. Sophia’s fragmented identity stems from the horrific abuse Victoria endured as a child, and the finale effectively connects her traumatic past to the murders she ultimately commits as an act of revenge. The discovery that Madeleine was actually Victoria’s daughter—and that her death at the hands of Victoria’s father served as the breaking point—adds a profound layer of tragedy to the character’s arc.
Meanwhile, Jeanette’s professional life continues to unravel as Lou’s corruption is exposed, driving her toward Sophia for emotional support. This decision leads directly to the finale’s haunting closing moments, in which Sophia reveals that she has her abusive mother confined in a hidden room.
The writing is strong, the performances are exceptional, and the final reveal is both impactful and memorable. It is a conclusion I genuinely did not anticipate. Bring on season 2! Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
