From international conspiracies to desperate rescue missions, this week’s TV Corner Notes has plenty to keep you guessing.
Another busy week of television is in the books, and there was plenty to talk about. I’m checking back in with Lioness as the search for Joe gets increasingly desperate, taking a look at Vigil Season 2 and why the thriller managed to surprise me all over again, and looking ahead to another packed week of television, including the return of college football.
What I Watched This Week
Lioness Season 3, Episode 4 Review: The Search for Joe Gets Desperate
Lioness continues to raise the stakes in Season 3, and “Murder Hornets” keeps the tension high as the search for Joe becomes increasingly desperate. The episode balances the present-day rescue mission with the larger conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, while Zoe Saldaña once again brings plenty of emotional weight to Joe's increasingly dangerous situation. There’s also some cool action, including a terrific helicopter sequence, and just enough humor to break up the intensity without taking away from the stakes.
What makes this episode especially effective is how it reminds us that Joe's disappearance isn't just affecting the people in the field. Her family is being forced to confront the possibility that she may not come home, adding another emotional layer to an already tense storyline. Four episodes in, Lioness continues to deliver a strong mix of espionage, action, character drama, and high-stakes suspense, leaving me even more curious about where the season is headed.

Vigil Season 2 Review: A Thrilling Mystery That Keeps You Guessing
After a thrilling first season, Vigil somehow manages to raise the stakes even higher in Season 2. Moving from the claustrophobic confines of a nuclear submarine to the dangerous world of drone warfare and military corruption, the six-episode season delivers an intriguing mystery that kept me guessing about who was really behind the attack. The shift in setting gives the series a fresh feel without losing the tension and investigative drama that made the first season so compelling.
Suranne Jones is once again excellent as DCI Amy Silva, bringing both determination and emotional depth to the character, while Rose Leslie remains terrific as Kirsten Longacre. Their evolving relationship adds another personal layer to the investigation, particularly as they prepare to become parents. The supporting cast also does a great job keeping the conspiracy unpredictable as Amy and Kirsten uncover layers of political corruption, military secrets, and corporate greed.
What I enjoyed most about Season 2 is that it never feels like it's simply trying to repeat the first season. The mystery continues to evolve, the stakes keep getting higher, and the eventual revelations make the journey worthwhile. If you enjoyed the first season, I highly recommend giving Season 2 a watch. Overall, I give the second season a 9/10.
