Reacher Season 4 Review: The Best Yet Delivers a Brutal, Satisfying Ride

A dangerous conspiracy, shocking twists, and brutal showdowns make Reacher Season 4 the series’ most satisfying chapter yet.

Some series raise the stakes only to forget what made them work in the first place. Reacher avoids that trap in Season 4, delivering what has become my favorite season yet. With a sprawling conspiracy, an ever-deepening mystery, and some seriously brutal confrontations, the latest installment gives Jack Reacher plenty of trouble—and makes every step of the journey worthwhile.

Based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow, Season 4 begins with Reacher witnessing a disturbing encounter on a Philadelphia subway. A woman named Anna Merrick appears terrified, and Reacher’s instincts tell him something is seriously wrong. Before he can uncover the source of her fear, Anna dies by suicide, leaving him with more questions than answers.

What initially appears to be an isolated tragedy soon draws Reacher into a conspiracy involving a missing flash drive, a decades-old military operation, and powerful people desperate to keep the truth buried. Teaming up with Anna’s brother, Jacob, and working alongside Philadelphia detective Tamara Green, Reacher uncovers a disturbing history of government corruption, chemical weapons, and deadly cover-ups.

The conspiracy gives the season a strong foundation, but what makes it especially effective is the way the story unfolds. Each revelation adds another piece to the puzzle, steadily raising the stakes until the full picture comes into focus. The twists are rewarding because the series builds toward them rather than relying solely on shock value. By the time the truth emerges, the danger feels both deeply personal and enormous in scale.

The antagonists also give Reacher plenty to contend with. Amisha Hoth and her daughter, Lila, are ruthless opponents who bring a particularly vicious energy to the story. Meanwhile, those protecting the conspiracy prove that the threat extends far beyond a handful of criminals. Reacher may be physically imposing, but this season reminds us that even he can be outmatched when his enemies have resources, influence, and nothing to lose.

Two episodes stood out to me: “Bridge” and “Cut.” “Bridge” is largely structured around a chase, but it demonstrates how effective Reacher can be when it commits fully to momentum. The tension remains high throughout, making the episode a great example of how a straightforward premise can deliver an exciting hour when executed well.

Then there is “Cut,” the season finale, which brings everything together in a violent, high-stakes showdown. Reacher takes a tremendous beating as the antagonists push him to his limits, and the fight sequences deliver the brutal physicality fans expect from the series. Watching him absorb blow after blow and continue fighting makes for a gripping climax. The finale also gives the supporting characters meaningful choices, particularly Jacob, whose desire for revenge threatens to consume him.

Beyond the action, the season leaves room for emotional consequences. Reacher carries the guilt of failing to save Anna, while the aftermath gives Jacob and Tamara a quieter moment to process their losses. The ending also reinforces Reacher’s familiar role as a wandering protector: he helps someone in need before moving on to whatever trouble awaits him next.

Reacher Season 4 finds the series at its best. The conspiracy is compelling, the twists pay off, and the action consistently delivers. “Bridge” and “Cut” stand out, showcasing both the show’s ability to sustain tension and its talent for delivering a satisfying, hard-hitting finale.

Most importantly, the season balances its larger mystery with character-driven moments that give the violence and suspense genuine emotional weight. It is an entertaining, well-constructed season that kept me invested from beginning to end. I give it a 9/10, making Season 4 my favorite Reacher season yet.
