Life In Pieces Gets Premiere Date

Well, finally the wait is over!

On Monday, CBS has announced the premiere date for Life In Pieces. The date is set for Thursday, April 18, TVLine has learned.

The fourth season comedy will kick off with two episodes, airing at 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm, before settling into it's regular 9:30pm time slot on Thursday, April 25 (which is currently airs Niva Dobrev's hit comedy Fam, which will wrap up its Season 1 run by that time).

Season four is described, the Short family, "welcomes a few new family members and weathers an unexpected health crisis" in the new episodes, and "some long-hidden secrets are revealed in an unexpected way." 

Back in August, TVLine reported exclusively that Joey King (the real-life sister of Hunter King, aka Life in Pieces' Clementine) will recur in Season 4 as Morgan, a pregnant 17-year-old who plans to place her baby with adoptive parents Math (Thomas Sadoski) and Colleen (Angelique Cabral).

Life In Pieces also stats Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Zoe Lister0Jones, Colin Hanks, Betsy Brandt, Dan Bakkedahl, Niail Cummingham, Holly J. Barrett,, and Giselle Eisenberg.

After hearing the news, I'm literally on cloud nine as I think that Life in Pieces is CBS best comedy right now. From the beginning when I heard and saw the first trailer that this show brilliant and it really has proven after three seasons that it's my top list of comedies to watch. 

The Accidental Gift: Life In Pieces "Toilet Shaving Stuck Fertility"

From tech toilets to shave or o shave, this episode of Life in Pieces was another hilarious episode.

"Toilet Shaving Stuck Fertility" was another memorable episode with hilarious moments from John accidentally receiving a new tech toilet from Tim as a thank you to Jen and Greg dodging their crazy neighbors and as they were invited to their party. Sophia and Heather's shaving story was perfect, too. The Matt and Colleen story has been nicely developing as they try anything to have a baby, including having someone inspect their stuff to see if it makes them infertile.

It's one of those episodes that will make you laugh and remember it a few days later. I couldn't get enough of John's John and how much John talked to the toilet, and Joan expressed her love for it after using it. The writing was good, and the performances from the cast were as good as the previous episode.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

Life In Pieces "Thirty-Five Teacher Escape Lottery"

From staying positive for a birthday to playing a game at home and trying to indict someone, this week's episode of Life in Pieces showed a lot of perfect moments.

"Story One: Jen's Birthday" 

It's Jen's 35th birthday, and she's unhappy about it. Greg tries to keep things positive and gives her another b-day card showing Clementine's picture. Greg thinks that having Clementine as Lark's babysitter would be great, but not to Jen. As Jen goes with Lark and Clementine to the park, she sees that Clementine is great. Things take shape when Greg, Jen, Clementine, and Lark go out for Jen's birthday, and the waitress accidentally thinks that Clementine is Lark's mother and Jen is Lark's grandmother. Jen drinks her way through her birthday cake, happens to have 53 on the cake, and soon falls asleep at the table.

"Story Two: Teacher's Pet"

Just as Heather and Sophia get going, they see Tyler and his friend, who happens to be Sophia's science teacher. What looked gross at the beginning for Sophia begins a special treatment from the teacher. But Tyler couldn't take his friend's kids, as they were acting out of control with him. So he had to break it up, and her teacher punished Sophia. But that all changed when Sophia bought flowers for her teacher and had them made by Tyler, and of course, she took stock.

"Story Three: Escape House"

When John wants to bond with his boys, he decides to get into the Escape house game that has been a hit around town. The game takes place in John's bedroom, and as soon as the game starts, they are locked from the inside and must find a way to get out, but when they see a moving van outside with the guy and crew taking John's stuff out, they realized that they're being robbed and they were with nothing left in the house.

"Story Four: Lottery"

After having lunch with Joan, Colleen is not only upset about being with Matt's mother but also that her lottery ticket was stolen from her and blames it on the valet guy. Matt thinks she had misplaced it and asked his mother to lie and say that she had found the ticket but wouldn't. So when Colleen and Matt drive back to the restaurant and ask for the valet guy, he doesn't work there after he quits. Matt tells Colleen that she has to acknowledge that she lost things, and she walks away, but Matt comes driving back after he finds the ticket in the car and asks her to forgive him. She did, of course.

This episode was excellent and funny most of the time. I find each one to be as humorist as the last one, but I enjoyed Jen's Birthday and the Lottery. The writing of this episode was excellent, and the performance from the cast was once again amazing. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

Life In Pieces "Waffle Permission Kidless Boyfriend"

Here's a recap of this week's episode of Life in Pieces.

"Waffle Party" 

When Matt and Colleen have breakfast with Joan and John, Joan asks about the waffle maker they got as a wedding gift. That leads to Joan offering them a waffle party. Matt and Colleen will bring everything to make the waffles, and Joan will bring them here and John. But Matt and Colleen didn't tell them they gave away their waffle maker and learned from Joan that they put a bundle of cash in their box. That led Matt and Colleen to go wild at a store looking for the money until John opened up the waffle maker that he bought and came to realize that he had given Matt the wrong one after finding the cash in his box.

"Permission" 

Nothing says like spending time with mom when you are feeling down. Tyler tries to give Clementine space from their place and doesn't know what to do. Heather takes him to the mall to go shopping, get her hair straighten, and even to the movies.

After it was awkward for Tyler, it became one of his best times with his mother. That was until they were at the movies.

"A Night Away"

Jen and Greg get to have a night to themselves away from Lark, but it turns out to be a  real night to remember when things started slowly by drinking wine, playing a game, and sleeping through the day and night away. When they get back, as soon as they begin to get things going, a baby is screaming next door. Greg tries to be the bigger man and tries to make it stop but instead gets asked by the mother to look after her child as she has to take her youngest to the hospital. 

Greg returns to the room with Jen; all dressed up and ready but unprepared to see Greg with someone's child. They try to be good parents, but they have some fun with the child by jumping up and down on the bed to play ding dong ditch.

As they headed back and tried to find the child's mother, Jen got an Amber Alert about a missing child, and the license plate number looked like Greg's and concluded that they shouldn't have taken the child from the hotel.

"Samantha's Boyfriend"

When Sam brings her boyfriend home, John and Sophia get into Tim's head that they may be doing something else besides studying for a test or a play. It freaks Tim out a lot, and he tries to do what he can to ensure he knows they aren't doing anything wrong.

After a couple of tries, he realizes that he shouldn't have listened to John apologize to Sam for his action, and they hug it out. But as soon as she returns to her room, she kisses her boyfriend.

This was an excellent episode from start to finish. The stories were amazing, and each stood out on their own. The writing was excellent, and the performances from the cast were just as good as well. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Life in Pieces "Meal Potty Cart Middle"

From fancy dinners to middle child issues, this episode of Life in Pieces was sometimes good.

"Meal Potty Cart Middle" was a satisfying episode at times. The MVP of this episode was "Potty Training Lark," as Jen and Greg try to teach Lark how to use the potty after they told Joan about how Lark is potty trained—trying their best and learning from Joan that giving her prunes would make it work, not be to mention that Greg had a tail when he was a child. But after being given Lark prunes, she finally had to gather, and then Greg had to go and use Lark's potty while Jen tried to hold Lark's feet.

The second best story would be "The New Cart Girl," as Tyler is golfing with their father and grandfather and sees Clementine as the new golf cart girl handing out drinks and snacks, getting much attention. Tyler tries to fix it and takes the job as Cart Man while Clementine works in Daycare with another good-looking guy. They admit that their divorce isn't what they expected it to be.

"The Middle Child Day" and "Boccone" were good. They had hilarious coupons, but they didn't meet with the other stories.

Overall, I give this episode a 7.5/10.

Life In Pieces "Testosterone Martyr Baked Knife"

This Thanksgiving episode of Life In Pieces was one to remember.

"Testosterone Martyr Baked Knife" might be one of the most memorable Thanksgiving episodes I could remember. The episode takes place on Thanksgiving Day, with Greg learning that he has high testosterone and showing it off, like a macho man, with Jen and the family until he shows signs of pimples. Joan decides that she wants Heather to do the Thanksgiving dinner instead of her but learns that it's hard to find something else after doing what you have been doing for a long time.

Meanwhile, Sam comes to Thanksgiving dinner after a sleepover with her friend and comes in high. She tries to hide it well enough that her mother and father don't notice it, but Tyler does. At times, she goes next door without even knowing how she got there.

And probably the icing on the cake happens to be the knife story when John gets his craving knife out and shows it to Sophia and tells her about how it has been in the family for years. Just as he's about to cut the turkey, the knife slips and gets stuck on the table. Trying to pull it out, he gets the guy to do it, and after Matt and Greg can't do it, the high Tim pulls it out, but as he cuts the turkey and cuts himself, the knife goes wild. As everyone was freaking out, Sam made her toast once again.

I very much enjoyed this episode from the beginning to the end. The writing was so good, and the performances from the cast were just great and memorable. I couldn't get enough of Colin Hanks acting macho to everyone, and even the knife story blew my mind. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Life In Pieces "Treasure Ride Poker Hearing"

From Getting a good Uber passenger rating to learning to get a hearing aid, this episode was another excellent episode of Life in Pieces.

The MVP stories of this episode happen to be "The Pick-Up Artist," as Jen tries to use her niece to get a better Uber Passenger rating, "Queens are Wild," as Joan faces her neighbor who happens to want something in return for her poker game, but what the neighborhood doesn't know is Joan has specific poker skills. Also, the "Hearing and Loathing" comes when John has to face getting hearing aids.

"X Mark the Spot" had some excellent humor moments, but it didn't stand out like the other three stories in this episode.

I thought the writing was good, along with some outstanding performances from the cast in this episode. I liked the character growth in this episode as well. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

Life In Pieces "Bunny Single Nightmare Drinking"

From awkward dinner to one hell of a nightmare, this episode of Life in Pieces was another half-hour of many laughs.

"Bunny Single Nightmare Drinking" was an excellent and hilarious episode. The first story of Jen and Greg trying to figure out what her boss' wife's name is was hilarious and memorable. Even with Tyler trying to move on from Clementine, he dates a mother who happens to have children and moves in with him. The funniest part of that story happens to be Tyler and his father, Tim, bonded, and Tim enjoys his son's happiness, which he wasn't.

When it comes to Matt's nightmare of having a child seems so natural as he learns that Colleen is expecting four children and has to move back in with his parents. It was probably the second-best story of the episode.

The last story has Heather thinking that her mom is drinking too much. But it's Heather causing her to drink more as she's trying to spend time with her. Joan admits to Greg and Matt about it and, during that moment, talks about how Heather deleted their shows, even JAG (who, by the way, is way better than NCIS). Joan finally does something about it when she gets a contractor to help fix Heather's house so they can get out.

I very much enjoyed this episode. Each one brought enough laughs and good moments to keep me entertained. The writing was good, and the performances from the cast were just as good as it has been. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

Life In Peices "Settlement Pacifier Attic Unsyncing" Season Premiere

The Short family is back and bringing the laughs once again.

"Settlement"

In the first story, after the season finale, when Matt and Colleen got married and had an accident at their honeymoon hotel, they met with the hotel lawyer to settle a settlement. When the lawyer showed them their offer of 2 Million dollars, it was by far the quickest decision they've made, even though Jen was not.

After settling the money, they get the family together and pay them back the best way possible, with a cash grab machine. Next, they announced to the family that after grabbing their money from the cash grab, they'd take that money and head to Las Vegas. There it was, Party City in the rental van, but Jen got the news to Matt and Colleen about their settlement that the hotel filed for bankruptcy.

It was soon after Matt and Colleen told the entry family about the news and asked that they wouldn't open any more champagne and to give them back the money that they grabbed as well. But Tim opened a bottle just after they were done talking.

"Pacifier" 

It's one of the hardest for a parent to do when they try to get their child off the pacifier, but for Jen and Greg, it was memorable.

When Jen and Greg's daughter needs her pacifier to sleep, they conclude that they need to get rid of it with a straightforward idea: send the pacifier to the pacifier fairy. The next day, they told their daughter about how they needed to send her pacifier away or the pacifier monster would come. So they get the family together and throw a pacifier goodbye party, and as soon as the pacifier is flying on balloons, it gets stopped by the power lines, and it's stuck.

That night, the daughter still sees her pacifier hanging from the power line and screams for her parents. Just as you would think that Jen and Greg handled the situation fine, they didn't and are sleeping with their daughter in her crib.

"Attic" 

This third story of the episode seemed to be shorter than the rest as it dives into more of Sophia and her grandpa John.

As Heather and her family lost their home due to a fire, they're living with John and Joan, and Sophia isn't too happy about it. She gets caught by the cops after riding the lawn mower and throwing eggs in the neighborhood. John thinks that she needs to be disciplined and does so by having her go into the attic and see what is making the noises. Just as he checks back with her, she's gone, and he tries to get Tank looking for her.

After freaking out a woman and her child, Joan tells John where Sophia might be where she feels safe, and that means she's at her house (that got burned). Sophia tells him that she doesn't know how to live in any other place besides her own house, and John replies that his home is her home, not to mention that she is her favorite grandchild. The two hugged and left right after the shelves collapsed.

"Unsyncing"  

After announcing their marriage last season, Tyler makes another announcement to his family about how he and Clementine are getting a divorce. Heather and Tim try to find out why and learn that Tyler and Clementine feel that having to talk about boring stuff and having sex five times a week isn't enough.

So Tyler and Clementine have settled. They arranged that they'd still be together as best friends and still have that relationship but only to date other people, which was easy for her and not for Tyler.

As Tyler drives Clementine to her date, he freaks to his parents about how bad the idea is and how good-looking the new guy is.

This episode was excellent. That had some fantastic stories and some that didn't. The one story that stood out was the Pacifier one, as not only Colin Hanks and Zoe Lister-Jones once again are hilarious. Ana Sophia Heger, who plays Lark Short (Greg and Jen's daughter), really stole the story and probably the episode. The other was The Attic, with Giselle Eisenberg as Sophia and James Borlin's Grandpa John having a good, short moment. The Settlement and Unsynicing was okay, but it wasn't as good as the others. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
