The Night Shift "Land of the Free"

This week's episode of The Night Shift was action packed, dramatic and even given a second chances. When TC and Jordan are accompanying a SWAT team on a raid, they wind up with a pill of emergency room full of sickend immigrants, an injured ICE officer and one that has murderous intentions.

In the line of a standoff with Romano, a criminal who's about to get a deal withthe Feds, tries to bust out of immigration prison but intead gets taken down with bullets and crashes the cop car that he was taken.

Along with him heading to the hospital, TC looks at an ICE officer that was attacked from the same guy but soon gets pulled when a kid, Angel, ask for his help in need as his mother was having a hard time breathing. This lead to the first standoff with the head ICE officer and TC as he wants TC to move on but TC decides to not only take the mother and son, but the entire prison of immigrants.

Of course, this upsets Scott for only a couple of seconds, but thought it was the best thing to do. Scott and Shannon takes Angel and his mother and finds out that Angel's mother has meninigitis, but Angel is healthy. That changed when Angel takes matter in his own hands because he doesn't want to leave without his mother and overdoses on pills from another patient.

Shannon and Scott treats Angel and got the drugs out before they would take effect and told him later that he needed to trust them that they are not going to go until his mother is healthy. More with Angel and his mother to come as it has a touching ending.

Paul and Drew treats the ICE officer that got stabbed a couple of times from Romano. The Officer and Paul didn't get along in their first impression after saying "those people" in a conversation. Paul learns about the officer's having one kidney and losing the other when he was 12 years old. The officer tells Paul about the things he had to do as a ICE officer and arrested a child and mother that really didn't deserved and got to meet the kid while moving to another room. After the officers surgery, Angel comes in and ask him why he arrested him and his mother and soon Shannon told Angel that an unknown officer made a call and dismiss the arrest and he and his mother are free.

Meanwhile, the main event was Romano and Jordan and TC as during a CT scan, Romano escapes and runs in the events. SWAT comes in and tries to find him, Rene goes after him and gets shot leaving TC to do what TC does best, get in there, move Rene out and take down Romano. Talk about a different take of Die Hard I would think. After a couple of seconds of fighting, the vents collapse and Romano is taken away and TC is taken to get treated by Jordan.

Along with that going on, Kenny asked Paul if he could have his blessing to marry his sister, even though she said yes. And it looks like we might have seen the last of Cain, so far as he calls Jordan to tell her that he quit. This would have to do with someone looking for him and saw him in a news report a couple of weeks ago. He runs off but gets picked up by a cop that turns out to be helping the guy that's looking for Cain and drives off.

And the Combat Training Program at SAMM goes well, even without Syd there because of family reasons. So TC has Amira come, even after she had arrrived in town and offer her the spot. But one thing is for sure that it ended with a couple of surprises: 1. Amira worked for the CIA and 2. the program will be up and running next week instead of in 90 days.

I thought "Land of the Free" was a real good episode that not only dived in the issuses of immigration, but also that there are second chances when a wrong had been done. I thought the Angel and the officer story was really good and had me feeling heartfelt and fuzzy at the end. And of course, TC and Romano battling it out was just another on my feet thrills. Even though that TC and Amria are a thing, I still have hope with TC and Jordan. Next week's episode is the season finale (I hope!) and it looks like someone is coming in that we are going to hope pulls through.

Overall, I give this episode a 8/10.

Supergirl Season 1

I was interested when I heard Supergirl was coming to television a couple of years ago since it came from the team that brought Arrow and The Flash. Even though I watched the out of episodes of the first season when it aired on CBS, I finally got the time to watch the complete first season this past week, and ma, n did it pull me in. 

In the first seas, she sometimes brought a lot of fun, thrilling, and emotional. Not only did the writing improve the season, but the acting from the ensemble cast gave the actual touching of what the show got to be. Mainly, Melissa Benoist shines like the light as Supergirl and gives a real heart and soul that you can believe she's Kara Danvers and Supergirl. 

Along with Benoist, Chyler Leigh, who plays Kara Danvers' sister, Alex Danvers, gives a real meaning to foster love and is the true heart and soul of what gets Kara growing as Supergirl. As Cat Grant, Calista Flockhart sometimes gets annoying but comes through with a solid performance near the end of the seasons—she's probably one of the most improved support years in the highest season. 

David Harewood initially got annoying as Hank Henshaw grew up after learning that he was J'onn J'onzz, which gave him a whole new meaning. After learning why he's taken his true identity, H is an actual figure. Mechcad Brooks as James Olsen is good and enjoyable but doesn't give fire, just that man in the middle when it comes to being with Lucy Lane and Kara/Supergirl.  

I loved the first season of Supergirl like I loved the first season of The Blacklist and ChicagoFiree: I couldn't stop watching it. With so many villains, such as Villainsvewire, Red Tornado, Max Lord, and the Red Kryptonite, it still gives me goosebumps. Still, it reminds me of what these characters went through to battle them, especially the red kryptonite that changed Kara's mind to hate. Benoist and Leigh still the show and give such a sister power that I genuinely enjoy. I can't wait to see Season 2 later this week. The first season gets a 9/10. 

Supergirl's first two seasons are now available on Bluray and DVD and streaming on Netflix, too. You can catch the season 3 premiere of Supergirl on Monday, October 9th, at 8/7c on The CW. 

Disjointed Season 1 Part 1

The first ten episodes of the new Netflix series Disjointed are streaming now, and if you're looking for a sitcom that makes a lot of weed jokes, then this show might be for you.

The show has its moments and not so moments. Kathy Bates, playing Ruth Feldman, gives a hilarious performance that'll stick out at times and also gives some good dramatic moments as well. The supporting cast works well with one another and along with Bates.

Aaron Moten, playing Travis, Ruth's son, is good at times and stands out in one episode, mostly in episode eight. When his girlfriend leaves, he imagines rapping in a music video. Elizabeth Alderfer, playing Olivia, is amassing slowly but enjoyable once you go into more episodes, especially in episodes two through ten.

Tone Bell as Carter, a security guard who suffers from PTSDDH from hours in Iraq, gives such a notable and humorous performance. Both Elizabeth Ho and Dougie Baldw, in playing Jenny and Pet,e are just as witty and enjoyable as the others can be.

The writing pushes the weed jokes a lot, and I don't think it's too much. Along with the show, it gives hilarious weed commercials from Kush in the still of Coolers beer and even Farmer's Pot. But the Strand-O of the Day is the show's best sample in each episode and possibly the most. And when you get down to the tenth episode, Bates does give a good performance of both comedy and drama.

Is it one of the best sitcoms of the decade? No, but the series has something something. Bates and the cast play well in this workplace sitcom about the weed. Randal, I rate the first ten episodes an 8/10.

Victoria Season 1

When Jenna Coleman left Doctor Who in 2015 to star in her leading role in ITV's Victoria, at first, I'll admit I was emotionally sad, but when I watched the first episode of her as Queen Victoria, all that changed.

If you haven't seen The Head of Victoria, the first season shows the first few years of the reign of Queen Victoria, going from her accession to the throne to her friendship and infatuation with Lord Melbourne to even her engagement and marriage to Prince Albert and ending the season with the birth of their first child, Victoria.

Daisy Goodwin created them. The show gives an engaging look not only at Victoria's rise to Queen but how others around her were as well. Talk about a royal family drama. The writing is fantastic and intriguing. Coleman plays Victoria and plays her quite well. But along with Coleman, Tom Hughes as Prince Albert, Daniela Holtz as Baroness Lehzen, and Nell Hudson as Miss. Skerrett is excellent as well. 

Along with the strong writing and performances from everyone, the scores and visual effects are amazing. Like episode seven, the episode had such a fantastic setting from outside and inside the palace and even the CGI of the model train when Prince Albert rode and later Queen Victoria.

And the scores, the theme to the intro, and Victoria is so thrilling and chilling simultaneously. Not to mention catchy as well. Every time I hear the theme song, I hum it during and after the end of the episode.

Hackers and Shcoker: The Night Shift "R3BOOT"

After battling my emergency situation last Thursday, I finally got a chance to watch last week's episode of The Night Shift and it not only delivers on it's on the edge thrill but there were a few bombshells coming to out hero characters.

The hopsital of SAM geta hacked and this time it seem more serious than the previous kind that other medical drama has done. With no machines the doctors are going back to the old school way of saving lives from treating a diebatic with an alcer to a kid dealing with a brian bleed and even an officer caught in an explosion during a take down of a criminal.

With a bad evulation from Jordan, Shannon proves that she's a good doctor and tells Jordan about how a friend could write something like that, even if Jordan is her boss. Drew has a job oppuritny at Ranger school and hasn't told his partner yet and when he finally does you can guess that it not any welcoming news even after he tells Drew about  maybe adopting a baby.

Paul finds out about Kenny and his sister have been spending time together and doesn't take it so well. Scott works with Paul's father after he paid the hackers and tells Scott about how he asked for money from other people and doesn't have any to pay them back and might need to close some hospitals.

After a wild night and saving an officer's life, Jordan and TC discuss the future if he'll stay or go back. Jordan tells him an idea of teaching combats at the hospital, after telling her he'll think about it, he gets a call from the doctor that he worked with in Syra and is imformed that she's seprated from her husband and coming to see TC.

This was a really good episode, it not only brough an intense but so good drama between characters. I think this episode would be a beginning point of another change for out characters. There wasn't anyone that really stood out as it everyone did an equal part of actiing. With only tonight and next week, how will this season go out in.

Overall, I give this episode a 8/10.

This Is Us Season Two clip

We are literally a month and two days away til the new season of This Is Us premieres it's second season. With that in mind and if you can't wait that long (as do the rest of us), here's a clip from season two of Randel and Rebecca discussing how she and Jack adopted him.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt "Kimmy Bites an Onion!"

In the season finale of Kimmy Schmidt, Kimmy must get 100 percent on her next exam or face getting kicked out of college.

When Kimmy gets pulled into the Dean's office and talks about how she's not falling through with her grades, she must get 100 percent on her next exam, in science, or fail college. After studying for her chemistry exam, she still fails but gets a honor degree with the name Jimmy Smitts scratched off.

Later, Kimmy thinks that she doesn't need a degree to be somebody and goes out to apply for a crossing guard. But she has to take the computer test, which she passes but also another one has passed as well, the robot. The two battle it out and on the last test, which she passes but as soon as she gets going for her new job, it's taken away because of her marriage to the Reverend.

Kimmy goes back home and tells Lillian, who's also having a bad day after fighting with Artie of getting a new heart, about how life is like a vidalia onion. She goes on saying how she heard it was sweet as an apple and when her and her mother got one and took a bite it was the worst thing.

Meanwhile, Titus and Jacqueline teams up once again, as Titus spies on Mikey, he over hears his song "Boobs in California" from someone driving by. Frustrated he and Jacqueline head to Gordy and demand money. Soon Titus spends some of the money to make Mikey jealous but it really doesn't work, so Jacqueline says that Titus will be performing on the Mets Cruise, which turned fun til Mikey starts kissing his boyfriend. That opened Titus up to stop singing and tell Mikey that he still loves him.

After jumping off the ship, Jacqueline has found her new calling card, talent agent and probably her first client would be Titus. Let's just see how that would go.

At the end, Lillian goes to Columbia University to talk to the Dean about Kimmy and bumps into Kyle. He's looking for Kimmy and instead of hitting the Dean with a hammer, Lillian takes Kyle to Kimmy in his DeLorean and makes a couple of Back to the Future references and as Kyle takes Kimmy to her future, a job at his company and she'll be more of on hands with the workers instead of Kyle.

I thought that this episode was a satisfying episode. It had so much humor, mostly from Titus and Jacqueline, because those two really click with one another. I did find Kimmy's Onion talk was a real heartbreaking moment of the episode and Ellie Kemper's best scene performance. The writing of this episode was very good and the performances from the cast was really good, all of which performed so well. Overall, I give this epsiode a 9/10 and for the thrid season 9/10.
