Supergirl "Rebirth" Season Premiere Episode Preview

We're just less than a week away from the final season of Supergirl. Here's a preview of the season premiere, "Rebirth."

"Rebirth"

In the season premiere, as Brainiac lays close to death after trying to stop Lex, Supergirl and team soar in to save him, engaging in an epic battle with Gamenmae. After beating Leviathan, Supergirl turns her attention to Lex who has used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does. Knowing how dangerous this makes her brother, Lena enlists the entire team, Alex, J'onn, Dreamer, Kelly, and Brainiac, to help but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.

Thoughts:

From the description of the episode, it sounds like a two-hour premiere event, but I'm sure it's not. While I am excited for the return of the final season, I just worry that the writers and producers might pull an Arrow death here with Supergirl sacrificing herself in this upcoming episode. I hope that's not the case.

The final season of Supergirl premieres Tuesday, March 30th at 9/8c on The CW.

Supergirl Final Season Has Premiere Date

The final season of the Girl of Steel has an air date.

The CW announced on Friday that the sixth and final season of Supergirl will begin Tuesday, March 30th at 9/8c, taking over Superman and Lois while they are on hiatus.

But don't worry fans of the new Superman series, the show will return for the rest of its first season beginning Tuesday, May 18 at 9/8c. The show has been impacted by COVID-19. After it completes its run, Supergirl will return to complete its final season (which has no date yet).

Not much known to be what's to come in the final season, though Azie Tedfai (Kelly Olsen) is co-writing Episode 12, make her the first actor to have a hand in writing an episode of an Arrowverse series.

Now that we got a premiere date, I can't wait to see what the final season has in store. I just hope that it gets a better final season than Arrow.

Looking forward to the final season of Supergirl? Leave a comment.

Reflection on Supergirl Final Season

I'll be the first to admit that the news is still hard but there's always a light.

It's been over 48 hours since the news broke that The CW's Supergirl will end after its upcoming sixth season. I'll be up most front about it that it still hurts to read it; let alone hearing about it. As all bad news has a sadness over us, there's always a light (like Kara) that can help us along the way.

Let me just get this out of the way that there are many reasons why the show is coming to an end. One of them being that of the production cost due to the COVID-19 has put on the network and production teams. Another is that the ratings have gone down for the last few seasons; with Season 5 being at its lowset averaging just 840,000 total viewers with a .22 in the demos according to the TVLive.

While the ratings might have been the final blow to the decision making, let's look at how with the new Superman and Lois series that maybe it would be time for Kara to pass the cape and timeslot to her Kryptonian cousin. I don't want to trash the series (even though it's not something that I'm looking forward), but I've enjoyed watching Tyler Hoechlin playing Clark Kent in this version.

But let me end with these thoughts. I've been a huge fan of the series ever since rumors about started and news of its pick up at CBS. Supergirl is the first female lead superhero series since Wonder Woman and it was pretty freakin amazing. This show was my introduction to the Arrowverse (even though I've heard of Arrow and The Flash series before but just never watched it).

The way Melissa Benoist embodies the character of Kara Danvers is amazing. This whole ensemble cast is amazing and the way they represented different cultures of race, gender, and ethnicity to these characters.

While we are sad about the news, there is always the bright side to this one is that we're getting a final season with 20 episodes. Let's be grateful that everyone from the network, studio, producers, and star came to an agreement to end it. We're going to get a proper send-off than just letting the show have no closure. It's not just over yet as the show won't return until Spring 2021 anyway.

And not to mention that the series has lasted six seasons, not a lot of shows these days last that long. That's probably one of many bright spots to take after the news.

Who knows what the final season will bring. I'm sure looking forward to seeing where they will end things. And maybe down the road with them completing six seasons that they could possibly do a movie later down the road.

Are you looking forward to the final season? Tells us your thoughts in the comments below.

Supergirl Ending After Season 6

Well, it looks like the tenure for Supergirl has an early conclusion.

On Tuesday, TVLine has learned that the upcoming sixth season of The CW's DC superhero series will be its last.

Production is to begin later this month with 20 episodes slated for the final season. The creative team has already developed the storylines.

In the wake of the announcement Melissa Benoist, who plays Supergirl/Kara, shared on Instagram, "To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless.

"She's had the impact on me too," Benoist contained. "She's taught me strength I didn't know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we're united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I'm forever grateful."

Regading on the show's final episodes, Benoist teased, "I'm so excited that we get to plan our conclusion to this amazing journey, and I cannot wait fo you to see what we have in store. I promise we're going to make it one helluva final season."

Is this a bit of a shocker, yes and no. I was hoping that it would at least go seven seasons but once you take a step back and look at what's going on with The CW and DCTV; it makes a whole lot of sense. Superman and Lois are coming at the beginning of the year and I guess it would just be too crowded for two superheroes on one network.

What's your reaction to the announcement? Leave your comment below and tell us your thoughts.

You can catch Superiglr available on The CW app and Netflix.

Together We Stand: Supergirl Season 5 (Ep. 10-19) Review

Supergirl Season 5 Episode 19 Review: Immortal Kombat | Den of Geek

The second half of the fifth season of Supergirl goes pretty fast into the post-crisis but delivers very well. SPOILERS!

While the second half of the fifth season of Supergils had some issues; it still delivered some awesome, exciting, and dramatic moments for this season. I loved out rounded and developed the characters this season with Brainy coming with his past and working with Lex Luther; while being in control of the DEO. Or Kara and Lena's relationship taking a nasty turn that Lena has to come to terms along with Kara about their decisions. Even Nia deals with her first experience of using power to help her roommate after she was attacked. And not only Alex dealing with the death of her father but gets a cool kick-ass suit.

This season really brought back characters; one of them that I'd really enjoyed was the return of Wynn in the two-part episode "Back from the Future." While it brought back a reunion; it also brought a bit of closure for Wynn; as he battles an evil doppelganger but also gets his father's appreciation too.  And while "Alex In Wonderland," Reality Bytes" and The Bottle Episode," were very good; "It's a Super Life," the 100th episode, was the most memorable episode; as it gives Kara a chance to try to fix her relationship with Lena but doesn't end well. And the ending with both Kara, Alex, and J'onn toasting to each other was a happy tear moment; as these three have been together since the pilot.

Now the one or two issues that I have had were some of the stories; as it was confusing at times after Crisis. I had to re-watch episodes; just so I could understand it better. The other was the character development of Andrea Rojas and Arcata; as I thought that in the second half of the season her character wasn't as effective as she was in the first half and that they just kind of wrote her to be here and there. Julie Gonzalo did give some very good performances.

I'd very much enjoyed the second half of the season. It had a lot of great moments in character development. And while the season was cut short of three episodes due to the COVID-19; I thought the season finale had a nice wrapped up to the season. While I give the second half of the season an 8/10. I give this overall season an 8.5/10.

You can catch Supergirl available on The CW app or VOD. Supergirl will return in 2021.

Crisis Has Begun: Supergirl "Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 1" SPOILERS!

Image result for supergirl crisis on infinite earths part 1

Part one of the five part crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earth" began last night; while it brought a lot of Part one of the five part crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earth" began last night; while it brought a lot of nostalgic to the fans of DC comics but it also brought heartache as well. Here's a recap!!

While suffering from earthquakes, Supergirl and team learn that an anti-matter wave is about to hit Argo City, where Kara's mother, Clark, and Lois with their baby are staying. While Kara communicates with Clark the planet of Argo is distorted by the wave.

The Harbinger picks up Barry Allen, Kate Kane, Oliver Queen, Mia Smoak, Sara Lance, and Ray Palmer from Earth-1 and brings them to Earth 38 to help save as many people as possible. But also Clark and Lois was saved by the Harbinger. While Jonathan, who was sent on a ship just before Argo was destroyed, was caught in a black hole and sent to Earth-16; where Sara, Brainy and Lois went to get him and also meet with another version of Oliver.

While J'onn and Nia tries to get everyone to the safe point to be picked up; Alex pleased with Lena to help make the portal device to sustain massive ships of people of Earth-38. When Lena couldn't crack the code, Alex gave her the brilliant idea of making a few changes that set the portal to work.

Oliver, Mia, Kara, Clark, Kate and Ray battle the anti-monitor's army to by more time to save more lives. When the Monitor appears he tells them that it's time to leave and get ready for more battles and transport everyone expect for Oliver, who still needs more time and fights the army; that is until Earth-38 is destroyed and The Monitor brings a severely wounded Oliver back. Oliver tells Barry that he had to scarface himself to save him and Kara. And just as he tells Mia his goodbyes, Oliver dies.

While The Monior didn't see that coming; the Parish tells everyone that everything they know is doomed.

I thought that Part 1 was a very good kicking off start to this event. While there's some nostalgic that had me going "oh my god!" seeing Burt Ward and Robert Whurl while the original Batman theme songs were playing in the background. It poses a question to what happens now that Olive is dead or could that be the Oliver that we all know? It did feel that this episode was a bit of Oliver's mini-swan song in a way. Does anyone think that Oliver from Earth-16 will be a part of this down the road? While I'm not a big fan of the Superman character in this Arrowverse, I do appreciate how they are trying to make him more human as in wanting to be a family man than a superman. I don't think that's not wrong to do.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

You can catch Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Two tonight on Batwoman at 8/7c on The CW.

Divide, Conquer and Purpose: Supergirl "The Wrath of Rama Khan" Fall Finale

Image result for supergirl the wrath of rama khan

Is there any good in people anymore?

Moments after the previous episode's events, as Alex and Brainy recuse Kara, she heads to Lena at Lux's mountain lab to try to apologize. Instead, she almost gets blasted with kryptonite but doesn't, and Ka heads back to the DEO to talk to Alex about the situation.

Kara makes a case that she can stop Lena from using Myriad before it's too late, but Alex doesn't see Kara's point of view and must take action. Ksaystells J'onn that maybe using Malcife could help stop Myriad before Lena could. After convincing Alex and during another situation, she agreed and even had to shut down their mind protector gadget.

As Malcife's power stops Myriad, Lena returns to her lab with Hope, and instead of getting arrested by the FB, Hope confesses to them that she was the one impersonating Lena.

Meanwhile, Andrea is in trouble with Rama and uses her to create the most powerful volcano in National City. Instead, J'onn and Kara stopped him; Andrea stopped him and sent him back to LeviLeviatheadquarters, where Gamemnae takes his powers away as the council has appointed her in his role. Oh, this should be interesting forward.

The episode ends with J'onn sending his brother back home to help, but he gets a visit from The Monitor about how he has succeeded and is ready for the Crisis. Also, the Monitor returns to Lex Luther and tells him that his mind needs use for the Crisis, but he wants him to do something about his sister.

For Crisis on Infinite Earth, we see Pariah in Central City Earth 1 about to open a secret agent door that takes him in, which probably is the cause of the Crisis.

"The Wrath of Rama Khan" was a good episode; while it wasn't like the build-up to what Arrow and The Flash have been doing (sort of,) I very much enjoyed it. While I thought the performances from McGarth and Benoist were outstanding. Cara Buono's performances in the last few episodes, including this, were a thrill. The writing was good with character development. I wonder what Lex has in store for his sister. I don't think it could be any good. Like Manstead on Chicago Med, I still have hope for Lena and Kara that they will be besties once again. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Crisis on Infinite Earth beginning Sunday, Dec. 8th at 8/7c and continues Monday with Batwoman at 8/7c, Black Lightning at 9/8c, and Tuesday with The Flash at 8/7c on The CW.

Friendship and Brothers: Supergirl "Confidence Women"/"Tremors"

Image result for supergirl confidence women

"Confidence Women"

"You jump, I jump right?"

"Confidence Women" was a nice backstroy between the relationship of Lena and Andrea. As Andreawas trying to break into the DEO and take Rip Roar; she fails and ask Lena for help. We jump back to fiftheen years when they first met and it was besties til they upon their search for the medialian. But when Andrea got the medialian, the relationship between hers and Lena went bad and we see how they're relationship with Kara and even Russell, Andrea's boyfriend and Rip Roar, had developed.

Even though Lean agreed to help, she gets the medialian; even though there were no powers from it. Andrea tries to get Russell out but ailed when Leviathan came and killed Russell. Andrea will have the power of the shadows; but both Lena and Kara know of the name Leviathan.

Good writing and character development. As much as I thought this was a good episode for Andra's point of view; I was a lot interested in of Lena's as it had more of an understanding of how people she cared for had disappointed her. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Image result for supergirl tremor

"Tremors"

With Lena keeping the medialian, a new threat comes in the name of Rama Khan, the movement of Earth. Lena and Kara go to the Fortress of Soiltude for a weapon to use against him; but it leads to Lena using the fortress against Kara and tells her the truth about how much she has hurt her.

J'onn goes to his father for advice about how to deal with his brother's loss; but learns that his brother isn't too far that he's at Lena's lab. As he meets his brother, they share memories of what J'onn has done and the two reconnected.

Alex and Kelly could be on the verg of a brekup but I don't think it will after what had happen between them.

"Tremors" was a good solid episode. The most that I would get out of it is between Kara and Lena and J'onn and his brother. Those two stories holds up this episode with strong character development and good writing. Katie McGrath gives her best performance in this episode so far. Overall, I give this epsode an 9/10.

You can catch Supergirl Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

Decisions: Supergirl "In Plain Sight"/"Dangerous Liaisons"

Image result for supergirl in plain sight

"In Plain Sight"

As the mystery unfolds about William, a decision is made for one superfriend and the secret is revealed.

As J'onn tries to track down Malcife; Malcife uses Alex to take down J'onn for what he had done to him. But instead of fighting against Alex and DEO techology; J'onn came out to his brother and apologiezes to him. Not seeking forgiveness I guess, J'onn uses the portal device to send his brother back to the phamtom zone.

Kara and Nia does some snooping on William and it takes them to Mexico to what is assume is a murder plot on someone. When Kara gets there, the victim was dead and William rides away. Both Nia and Kara learn where William is staying and as Kara snoops, she learns that William is undercover investigating Andrea because he suspects that she's doing something bad. Looks like William and Kara are now on good terms.

As James takes Kelly to their aunt's house, the town seems to be in poor shape. James learns that the town has been corupt and that no one sitcks for justice for the little guy. After witnessing all of that and hanging out with a kid, that lead to James' decision to leave National City and to be the owner of the town's newspaper.

The episode ended with Malcife not ending up in the phantom zone but at Lena's lab for which she hopes they will work together.

"In Plain Sight" was a fablous episode from beginning to the end. The James and J'onn storyplot was so good and overwhelming at times. It kind of feels that seeing James at the end of the episode has come full circle for the characrer; but I do think he'll be back from time to time. OVerall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Image result for supergirl dangerous liaisons

"Dangerous Liaisons"

As Kara and William search for anwsers together, they'll unlock the biggest mystery to this invesitgation.  As William tell Kara about why he's so detertmine to take down Andrea that his best friend was dating her and ended up dead; or so he thought.

A new villain named Rip Roar steels one of Lex Luther's weapons and tried to use it to melt the ice in Antarctica. As Kara and J'onn stopped a massive water leak there, Nia stopped the massive wave from hitting National City. As Rip Roar is captured, Kara tells William that he is his best friend.

Meanwhile, Lena works with Malcife to work on her device that ended up betraying him by using his power against him. Andre gets a visit from the lady from Leviathan telling her abour Rip Roar and Alex and Kelly celebrated their first dateannivery a bit late; but they made it up.

"Dangerous Liaisons" was a good episode. Now that we've got to know William, I'm really liking the Kara and William investigation even when they were in Andrea's office during the late evenings. I thought the writing was good as well as the character development of William, mostly. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

You can catch Supergirl Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

Love and Pain: Supergirl "Stranger Beside Me"/"Blurred Lines"

Image result for supergirl stranger beside me

"Stranger Beside Me"

Love and hope is in the air in this episode of Supergirl.

As Lena tries to come up with a way to use Andrea's tech to help improve humans with their hate; she tries to get Hope, her A.I., to transfer her intelligence into a human body and that human body happens to be Eve. Ater pleading to Lena, Eve thought she was going to be let go; but instead gave Lena the location in her brain that can help Hope transfer into her mind.

After a hurtful reunion with his brother, both J'onn and his brother are suffering pain. Kelly helps J'onn put back his missing memories and even learned of why his brother was forgotten. But this won't be the last as J'onn's brother is planning to reset his memory using Kelly's device.

James and Kara are facing challeneges on their own. After James quits CatCo, he has a couple of job opportunities one running for Senate and the other working at a museum. But Kara faces some obstacles with Andrea, who bumps her down from beat news reporter to fashion reporter; but that all changes when she missed her deadline and gets bump down to copy editor. After getting advice from J'onn; Kara accepts the new posotion and not only done the work but gets ahead of the next day editor meetings.

Both Alex and Brainy are having a bit of a difficult time in the relationship department with thier partners. Alex just learned that Kelly is allergic to blueberries just as she was about to give her blueberry pancakes. But their love for each other is never in question. While Nia gets a surprise wake up call of her favorite breakfast in bed; that gave Brainy an idea that he could contuine to do what he has done but it could lead to something more drastic.

"Stranger Beside Me" was a very good episode; as it really dived into character growth with Alex and Kelly but J'onn and even Kara, who I have been enjoying seeing her character taking on journalism stories for the past year. I'm a bit surprised that William hasn't done a thing after seeing Supergirl and the White Martian. Also how much of a threat will Andrea be to Lena with what's she's trying to do ana all? Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

"Blurred Lines"

As the truth comes out, a mystery is upon and a love one is in danger.

Wondering what William is bad or good? This episode seems to be weighting heavily on the bad as we see him trying to ignore a murder of a well-known scientist. But will that stop Kara for covering that story or in this case slove whoever killed him? You bet she is!

As Kara and James learn that the sceintist had a tatoo of a spider in his heart; that led Alex to find a familar suspect that happen to be released from a DEO prison. But in this case, it's a diferent person but with the same motive. Kara finds a hidden flash drive that has a secret hidden key that even Brainy can't figue out. And while they try to stop the suspect and asked questions; she got killed.

Meanwhile Nia deals with two different thing Brainy and J'onn. She helps J'onn with his memory and uses her powers to unlock what really happened between his family and brother. But later on Nia shows J'onn the real reason: he wiped his father and his memory of Malcife.

After days of overwheleming moments of food and poems Nia tells Brainy to take it down a notch and boy that didn't turn out too good.

Kelly thought she was helping out an old friend that happens to be Malcife; as he wants his powers back. Now that he got his powers back; Kelly is in danger and must be taken to a safe place as James takes her leaving Alex to find Malcife.

And as Kara and Lena have their first lunch together since coming out to her as Supergirl; Kara helped Lena to get her brother's journals so she could help her with her nightmares of the events last season. But it was all for to help with her study.

"Blurred Lines" was such a good episode; mainly between J'onn and Nia as they kind of felt the center point stories of this episode. J'onn's story was as heartbreaking as it could have ever been when he learns that he was the one that earased his and his father memory of Malcife. After dealing with too much Brainy, Nia tells him the truth but sometimes the truth does hurt and I don't think they're gonna break up anytime soon. But I have a bad feeling that this William dude is a pretty bad guy even when getting an envople of cash from a mysterious person. The writing and the performances from the cast mainly Maines and Harewood. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

You can catch Supergirl Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

New Season, New Look: Supergirl "Event Horizon" Season Premiere

New season of Supergirl with a new chapter, new chararcters and a family reunion? Here's a recap!

Knowing the true idenity o Supergirl from Lex; Lena who's hurt that her best friend in the world has lied to her about who she is; plans to expose the truth. That is until during Kara's Pultizer party  when Kara, who's been having the toughest time; finally confronts Lena about who she is, Supergirl.
After selling her shares of CatCo to a long time friend, Andrea; Lena plans to give her the breaking news of Kara being  Supergirl but in the end decides to hold it off and finds another way to hurt Kara in a way that she has hurt her.

Meanwhile changes are coming to CatCo and James, Kara and Nia are shocked to learn that Lena sold her shares to someone else. James and Kara try to stand their ground on journalism against Andrea, who wants more than just truth in a story but more buzz. After all of that, James decides to leave CatCo.

And as J'onn's broher makes his presence on Earth, he steals Superman and Supergirl Krypton tech to open a portal to let Midnight out. She tries to ruin Karas party but in an awesome Supergirl fashion action scene, Midnight gets contain and Kara saves J'onn from the portal. But that wasn't the end as J'onn finally comronts his brother Malefic and learns that hes here to stop what he and his father had started.

"Event Horizon" was a fantastic season premiere episode. It dives into what we're going into this season which is the relatiosnhip between Kara and Lena. Oh I can't wait to see where this season will take them. I enjoy the Brainy and Nia relationship and their moment at the hangout pub. The episde had good writing and good performances from the cast. That music choice for that action scene with Supergirl and Co. against Midnight was awesome; I'm gonna add that to my workout playlist. Overall, I give this episdoe a 9/10.

You can catch Supergirls Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

"Superfriends": Supergirl Season 4

Image result for supergirl season 4

The fourth season was as jolting of high intensity drama as it could have ever have been.

I thought that the fourth season of Supergirl was a very powerful but overwheleming season that takes on the issues of immigration but also secrets and even family. There might have been a few episodes like "Menagerie" was a bit of a snoozefest to me. Otherwise, most of the episodes were pretty much good to even better.

While Benoist and the cast gave a great performance in the fourth season; the one person that shines throughout was Nicole Maines as Nia/Dreamer. Maines performance in the first episode is almost like Benoist's performance when we first meet her as Kara in the pilot.

And I thought that Jon Cryer as Lex Luther could be wrong; I was totally stunned by his performance. It wasn't just wacky but so brilliantly well done that; it was better than Gene Hackman or Jessie Eisenberg.

I very much enjoyed season four and while it made me cry at times; it was as better as the previous season. The writing was so good as it could have been; with the season finale was as powerful as I thought it could in the way that it concluded. Season five should be interesting and the Crisis on Infinite Earth will be an event unlike anyother in the Arrowverse. Overall, I give this season an 8.9/10.

You can catch Supergirl Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

A Not So Funny Valentine: Supergirl "Menagerie"

Image result for supergirl menagerie

Will Kara and Alex be the same after the previous episode? Will Nia come to Kara's side to fight for justice? Plus could this be the end of Lena and Jimmy? Here's a recap!

It's Valentine's day so it's pretty much appropriate for an alien to come crashing to Earth to kill humans and steal their hearts. That case leads to having both Alex, Kara, and J'onn working together as each of their cases has drowned to the creature Menagerie.  While it does lead to some Kara and Alex time; it's stressful for Kara.

Meanwhile, as Nia copes from the loss of her mother; Brainy tries to plan a valentine's date. After a talk with Kara; Nia decides to suit up and help Supergirl again Menagerie but even though they had a chance to stop and stun to the creature, the children of Liberty has raised with the son as the leader and sliced the alien's head off the human body. Think that was game over, think again!

During the Menagerie attacks, Haley goes to Lena for help on the President's behalf to stop the aliens. Soon after Jimmy comes with her Valentine's gift and quickly Lena tries to get them to go on a surprise trip, but soon she tells Jimmy about the contract with the President and her studies and even though Jimmy loves her, he just can't stand with her on her project. So the two broke up and Lena agrees to the contract with the government.

After all, was done, the President gets Ben Lockwood out of jail. But back in jail, Meragerine gets a letter from the Manchester Black which looks to be an invitation to join his team.

"Menagerie" was okay of an episode.  There were times when the episode had good moments and some bad ones that I just couldn't stay focus. The bad ones happen to be Lena and Jimmy; as it felt like the band-aid was ripping apart so slow. The villain in this episode was just okay. It really didn't have too much of character growth. The good would be watching Kara trying to find a way to bond with her sister, also I just can't get enough of J'onn and Kara as Private Investigators. And the Child of Liberty was good but I thought that story had run its course but I just they are adding something much more in this season. Overall, I give this episode a 7.5/10.
