Past Regrets and Futures Truths: This Is Us "Songbird Road, Part 2"

Image result for this is us songbird road part 2

After more than a few weeks of a break, This Is Us returns with moments of intense chills, humorist and a shocking slip. Here's a recap!

This Is Us returned last night with another amazing and powerful episode. Picking up where we left off in Part 1, Kevin decides to take Nick back with them, with Kate and Randall not so sure that helping him would do anything now. Soon Rebecca shows up the next morning and meets with Nick for the first time and sees the resemblance of Jack, with the eyebrows. Kevin finds a Veteran place where he could get the help that he needs but turns him down after checking it out. Rebecca gets a flashback to when she took Kevin to get his rookie baseball card signed from a player that could be traded and learns that Kevin really is like Jack in fixing or making things better for others.

Rebecca talks with Nick and later Nick walks out after telling her that he can't be fixed. But it for a second shot, Rebecca talks with Nick one more time and it does get through to him. Nick knocks on Kevin's door and after fixing his ceiling in his motor home and tells Kevin that he's gonna go to a meeting and gonna take it one step at a time. As Kevin and Rebecca drive home, Rebecca was happy that Kevin did such a good thing, but Kevin wasn't too happy as he flashback to the moment when he was back at Nick's motorhome and looks at a bottle of whiskey and decides to drink.

Meanwhile, as Kate and Randall head back, they decided to check out their house that they use to lived in. Kate remembers that day when it was fun, but Randall remembers differently. We see Jack struggling to terms about his brother. Randall remembers Jack yelling at them for making a mess, while Kate remembers what happened after when Jack apologizes to them and started to have fun. Later as soon as they each got home, Kate tells Toby that she wants to show their son everything that they love from movies to even events. While Randall comes home not only to give some gifts to the girls but gets word from Beth that her mother had an accident and is leaving to see her along with Zoey.

"Songbird Road, Part 2" was worth the wait as it was another amazing, powerful that gave me chills throughout the episode. Parker Bates and Justin Hartley's performance really strong as his character make another revelation that he's not just a Hollywood poster. But when it comes to trying to help others it always doesn't go the way it's supposed and watching him slip back to his habit of drinking/ It was not only heartbreaking but also shocking as well.

Griffin Dunne gave another strong performance in this episode as Nick Pearson. The rest of the cast gave a really good performance. The writing was so strong along with the character development in the characters of Kevin and Nick.

Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Changing Point: The Blacklist "The Ethicist (No. 91)"

With Reddington getting mental tested, will Liz get a step closer to who Reddington really is or not? Here's a recap!

With Reddington moved to Springfield for a psychological evaluation, Liz takes this opportunity to hunt down one man that knows Reddington and gets the FBI task force to hunt him down. The Ethicist is one blacklister that can work out the details in any situation and when he works with someone with a flavor, he gets caught by Liz and has a chat about not only his past history as another person.

As Liz and Jennifer demand answers, but he would only tell her if he hands him his gun. As soon as he gives him the gun, he gives the name "Marguerite Renard." Liz finds Marguerite, she'll learn about Reddington. And as soon as she leaves, The Ethicist kills himself.

Meanwhile, Reddington asked the judge for a psych exam as he's got the right to have one. As soon as the judge agrees, Red is taken to a faculty in Springfield where he not only is tested but meets with a familiar face, who happens to be heavily medicined. As he whines down the meds, he tries to get him to talk about getting help but could only get one name, "General Shiro." Red couldn't get any more out of him because of attacking the therapist.

As the therapist talks to Red and gave him her opinion that he can stand trial, she notices something about him that he could be someone else instead of who he says he is, which says a lot, right? But Red goes back to New York and gets ready for trial, but as soon as he gets back to jail, he contacts Dembe that there's some work to be done.

"The Ethicist" is strong and probably one of my favorite episodes so far. We finally get to see Liz cross that line of trust with her task force. From lying to Cooper and team about Red wanting them to hunt the Ethicist to even demanding information about Reddington to the blacklister as the task force is coming in and lets him kill himself. The one problem I had and it's really the beginning of the episode when we see the soon to be a client of the Ethicist hit someone in the middle of the night. The whole scene was too damn dark and hard to see if it really was a kid or someone older. Otherwise, I thought the episode was good after that. Strong writing and character development. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

You can catch The Blacklist Fridays at 9/8c on NBC.

Sticking Up For a Friend: Brooklyn Nine-Nine "A Tale of Two Bandits"

Has Doug Judy struck again? Will the Nine-Nine lose their bar that's been part of their lives for so long? Here's a recap!

Terry confronts Jake that the Pontiac Bandit has struck again and believes that Doug Judy is back at his old game, but Jake doesn't believe that. When Terry called Doug's mother, they learn that Doug Judy is dead. They go to the funeral and as Jake sings a sweet tribute song about Doug, he sees him across the hall and confronts him about it. Doug tells Jake and Terry that he's been targetted because of a crime that he hasn't committed. They learn soon that it was Doug's sister, Trudy Judy and they try to work with her but in the end, she played them all and used Doug's book on how to steal cars and make a living for a while.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Nine-Nine team deals with the firefighters as they take over their own bar, Shaw's. The only way they could get rid of them is a drink off, the one to drink the most amount of bar tab wins. Everyone goes down puking, but Captain Holt comes, in the end, drinking a lot of wine and wins in a blaze of glory and even puking after.

"A Tale of Two Bandits" was as hilarious as I could have imagined! With every single bit of this episode made me laugh and laugh whether its Jake and Doug learning that Turdy Judy is the car bandit to even the Nine-Nine team drinking against the NYFD to keep their bar and Holt coming at the end to drink the rest of the win, that one was warm. The writing was so strong and that included character development. Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch Brooklyn Nine-Nine Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.
