Are you excited to catch Fox's new drama, Rescue Hi-Surf?
The newly launched FOX beach rescue series, which premiered over two thrilling evenings this week, is an exhilarating and action-packed program that investigates the remarkable endeavors of individuals who courageously endanger their own lives to safeguard others from the perils along the picturesque Northshore of Hawaii.
This is not Baywatch; I emphasize it is not Baywatch.
If one were to compare it, it would resemble an ER set on the beach, which is not a negative attribute.
The characters are well-developed and interconnected: Captain Jennings, portrayed by Robbie Magasiva, leads the Northshore rescue group while grappling with the loss of a family member; Lieutenant Wright, enacted by Arielle Kebbel, is a relentlessly determined individual who aspires to achieve the rank of captain; and Will Ready, played by Adam Demos, is among several team members who are preparing to transition to the fire department while potentially harboring a romantic interest in Wright.
The rescue scenes are similar to those in other programs, characterized by impressive visuals and dynamic camera work. After viewing two episodes, certain narratives are compelling enough to warrant continued interest, whether it pertains to Jennings navigating political dynamics while considering the addition of a new recruit prompted by a politician’s request for a favor or observing the team as they manage the consequences of a new recruit's mistake regarding the failure to provide accurate location information.
This show is FOX's way of introducing another exciting emergency rescue series right as 9-1-1: Lonestar wraps up!
After viewing the first two episodes, I strongly recommend adding Rescue Hi-Surf to your watchlist for the upcoming fall season. The series exhibits notable character development and proficient writing.
Overall, I give the series premiere an 8/10.
