Let's take a delightful look at this week's episode of Rescue Hi-Surf!
Sonny, while still working through the heartache of losing his nephew, finds a way to address the lawsuit from the boy's father, whom they helped a few episodes ago. When he speaks with the father, it feels less about assigning blame and more about understanding the father's own feelings of wishing he could have done more. Not long after, the lawsuit is dropped, bringing a sense of relief to everyone involved.
Sonny received an invitation to his nephew's memorial, a thoughtful gesture from his mother, but he could not attend. He shared his feelings with his sister, reflecting on how he might have unintentionally influenced her in ways that concerned him.
Meanwhile, the crew faces a challenging situation with a tiger shark and a collapsing sandpit. Will is excited to learn that he passed his firefighter test. Still, he soon receives disappointing news—he wasn't selected for the position, possibly due to no family ties on the island. It might also have something to do with Em, who is currently dating a firefighter, though that feels like a stretch. As for Hina and Kainalu, they are sorting out their living situation, which seems to be evolving into something more meaningful.
The episode "Kick Out" proved commendable from its inception to its conclusion. Robbie Magasiva delivers a praiseworthy performance, possessing one of the most compelling storylines of the season as his character grapples with the emotional ramifications of losing his nephew. It raises the question of whether Will's absence from the firefighters may be attributed to a lack of foundational ties to the island or if deeper underlying factors are at play. Furthermore, a palpable sense of jealousy emerges between him and the newcomer when Em is dropped off at work.
Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
