In the ED, who can you trust? Here's a recap of this week's episode of Chicago Med.
After last week's shocker for Ripley, he talks to Asher about it even further, which ends their conversation with him not trusting her. The next day, Ripley doesn't seem to be in the game, even when Lenox questions his medical methods during a trauma, which has him later talking to Sully about the decision to turn himself in. Sully told Ripley how Hannah loves him and that he shouldn't let that go.
Charles and Archer deal with a patient who needs a procedure but denies it because Joan is an AI or chatbot on the tablet. Charles does some digging and talks to him about Joan and how she answers with fear about the surgery that the patient needs.
Dr. Frost has been getting a patient's mother in love with him. It becomes clear that Frost was a child star who happened to have his own catchphrase, "that was a close one."
Goodwin tries to figure out how to deal with the overload of ambulances, and even after, Peter tries to tell her to handle it herself. She does this in her own way by letting the ambulances stay until he can handle it. Meanwhile, Goodwin gets a death threat note, but who could it be from?
The story most discussed in this episode has to be Dr. Hannah Asher, who treats a pregnant black woman who feels like she isn't heard about her worries. When Asher diagnosed her patient with preeclampsia, after having to do an emergency c-section, the two became close, and even Asher shared that she would love to be a mother someday for the first time. But things for Asher's patient turn serious, and she is sent back to emergency surgery, which leads to her patient dying on the table and leaving Hannah in a state of shock and overwhelming emotion.
"Trust Fall" is one of the best episodes of the season. This was Asher's "Love's Labor Lost" episode (if you aren't aware of that episode, it's an ER episode from season one that I highly recommend watching). This episode opens Asher to another level in her character development, from being overconfident in treating her patient to sharing her thoughts of wanting to become a mother someday. It just made me fall in love even more. Jessy Schram gives her best performance so far.
This episode had enough to balance the strong emotional Asher story with Charles's patient and his chatbox Joan to Frost's childhood as a child star. Also, who could have sent that death threat to Goodwin? Someone that cut and let go from Med due to budget cuts or someone that really has a thing against her?
Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.
