Is Dan's job at risk after receiving a poor review? Here's a recap of this week's episode of Night Court.
After receiving a poor review from one of his clients, Dan's job is in question because he is not young. To prove that he can hang with the youth, he tries to use different slang and even goes to an electric band concert with Julianne, which ends in a mess.
When Dan returns, he seems a bit older, dressed in well-worn clothes from the lost and found and using a cane to help him walk. Interestingly, during the court session, his client is also an elderly man. However, Dan and Julianne devise a clever plan to confront Tad, who is overseeing the satisfaction initiative (played by the talented Andrew Rannells), to persuade him to reconsider firing Dan.
Meanwhile, Wyatt puts his daughter through a lie detector test! However, it's Abby and Grugs who find themselves in a tricky situation when she casually mentions that her dad has a crush on someone at work and it could possibly be one of them. Even Abby and Grugs find themselves caught up in their own little test! But in the end, they discover that Wyatt was just joking around to make his ex-wife a bit jealous.
"Age Against the Machines" was a good episode—even better than last week’s! Absolutely! This episode was a fantastic showcase for Dan and highlighted the classic John Larroquette comedy we all love. Andrew Rannells also brought so much humor to the episode; he was simply fantastic. We can't forget the hilarious jokes of Dirt Dancing and even adding Jonathan Swift and Taylor Swift, either!
What I truly hope this show can achieve is to revive those compelling case stories featuring these characters. I’m not just talking about quickly wrapping up a court case; I would love to see an impactful episode that resonates deeply, similar to some of the episodes from the 80s series. Even better would be to bring back the cherished "A Day in the Life" episodes during this revival!
Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.
