Daredevil Born Again "Heaven's Half Hour"/"Optics" Series Premiere

Daredevil is back and well after the two episode premiere on Disney+, here are my thoughts.

Having just watched the two-episode premiere on Disney+, I’m really excited about this revival of the beloved Netflix series! It brings back so many elements that I enjoyed from the original. But the big question is, can this new series make its own impact? I genuinely believe it can, especially with the promising story development we've seen in these first two episodes.

The first episode, 'Heaven's Half Hour,' featured a lovely moment when Matt, Karen, and Foggy celebrated at their favorite bar, reminiscent of the original series. I nearly grabbed tissues when Foggy was killed, shocking Karen and Matt. The series needs to build momentum, and it does as we see Matt starting a new law firm but not continuing as Daredevil.

Wilson Fisk returns to find his wife, Vanessa, who runs his business. As he campaigns for mayor of New York City, he says that their marriage needs support after recent events. Later, Murdock and Fisk meet at a diner, reflecting on their past and ensuring they don't cross their own lines (let's see how long that lasts).

By the end, Fisk becomes Mayor of New York City, and while Murdock learns of the news, takes a walk as we see the two, Fisk and Murdock, watch one another from a distance knowing that they'll be watching each other.

The second episode "Optics" matches the first, enhancing the legal drama as Murdock takes on Hector Ayala's case for killing a cop while trying to prevent harm to another in the subway. Despite believing Ayala, Murdock senses he’s hiding something: Ayala is the White Tiger, fighting crime since Daredevil vanished.

Fisk's first day as Mayor demonstrates his quick action by filling a significant pothole without delay. However, the NYPD commissioner contemplates resignation due to Fisk's past, suggesting potential issues. Instead, Fisk threatens the commissioner's family to prevent his departure. Additionally, to support Fisk's marriage, his team found Heather, a therapist dating Murdock.

By the episode's end, Murdock tracked down the missing person saved by Ayala, who could assist with the case. When two cops arrive, Murdock lets the person escape to meet with Cherry, and he confronts the cops. He attempts to reason with them but gets beaten until the devil appears and takes them down. Daredevil is back!

What can I say about these two episodes of Daredevil Born Again? I truly enjoyed them! Is it the best superhero show ever? Not quite! Remember, it's just the first two episodes, so breathe and enjoy the ride. We can chat about it more when the season wraps up!

I absolutely love how they’ve brought back elements from the original series! The dynamic between Murdock and Fisk creates such an unforgettable television experience. The diner scene was incredible, and watching Vincent D'Onofrio deliver his speech to the public was both chilling and impressive.  And let's not forget the one thing I love in the Netflix series was the one fight scene at the bar, which simultaneously gave me excitement and chills. Let's hope they continue with that this season (not a whole lot but when it counts).

I can't wait for the next episode. Overall, I give this premiere episode 9/10.
