St. Denis Medical is back this week, bringing you another delightful episode filled with laughs! Here's a fun recap to catch you up!
When a future baseball prospect needs surgery, Alex feels Bruce wasn't cautious enough regarding the potential outcomes of the surgery that could affect him. However, this is Bruce, who doesn't demonstrate much concern and just laughs it off towards Alex. That's when Alex advises the patient and abruptly postpones the surgery, upsetting Bruce.
As the day unfolds, Bruce encourages the patient to proceed with the surgery. However, just before the procedure, he begins to have second thoughts after listening to Alex discuss how she approaches taking risks with her patients. After a heartfelt conversation with Alex, Bruce discovers the confidence he needs and goes ahead with the surgery, ready to make a positive impact.
Meanwhile, Matt and Serena had an accident while transferring a patient to the bed, which made Matt want to tell the patient about it after he woke up. However, Serena insists that nothing happened and urges him to share his secret dream: to keep quiet about the situation. That is, until the patient woke up and Serena eventually agreed to tell him what had occurred, and in the end, it seems that Serena has a date coming up soon.
Joyce is being interviewed by her college newspaper, but she isn't the focus since Tiger Woods is the feature on the front page. This doesn't sit well with her, and she attempts to draw attention to anything happening at the hospital, from Bruce's surgery to the new food options. Perhaps she and Woods will share the cover? And a word of warning: never interrupt Ron when he's watching his NBA games, or he'll get mad at you.
"Sometimes It's Good to Be Cautious" was a solid episode this week. The episode was beautifully written, and the cast delivered some really great performances too! In this episode, the Alex-Bruce story really took center stage, while the other moments were delightful little additions that were enjoyable too! I completely agree with Alex about the importance of Bruce being more careful with his patients when it comes to surgery. It’s so vital for him to have deeper conversations about the outcome risks. That scene where Alex shares the risks is just fantastic! It's so poignant when Bruce reflects on it right before the surgery—it really highlights the gravity of the situation.
In the meantime, I really liked the Serena-Matt story! It beautifully brings them together as they discover more about each other, even if it means Serena finds out about Matt's secret dream (oh dear!). I found Ron's story to be a tad funnier than Joyce's in this episode! It was so relatable watching Ron try to catch his favorite Trail Blazers game against the Warriors, only to be interrupted by someone. I totally get you, Ron! I really do!
Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
