A decade since the conclusion of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler and Mike Schur are pioneering a new television comedy series.
On Wednesday, Peacock ordered the series "Dig," a new comedy by Poehler and Schur. Both will co-write the pilot episode and serve as executive producers, while Poehler will also star in the series.
An adaptation of Kate Myers' 2023 novel Excavations, "Dig" portrays the experiences of four women involved in an archaeological excavation in Greece, each at a distinctly divergent crossroads in their lives. "When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history," the logline reads, " they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy."
This marks the inaugural collaboration between Poehler and Schur since the conclusion of Parks and Recreation, which completed its seven-season run in 2015 on NBC. Additional executive producers of Dig include J.J. Philbin (New Girl and Single Parents), Morgan Sackett (Veep and Hacks), Dave Becky (Master of None and Insecure), David Miner (30 Rock and Parks and Recreation), Sharon Jackson, Kate Arend (Russian Dolls and Sisters), and Jordan Grief, alongside book daughter Mysers, who will also serve as co-executive producer.
This series truly promises to be a hit, and I couldn't be more excited, even if the complete casting list isn't out yet! With talents like Poehler and Schur on board, along with some fantastic producers like J.J. Philbin and David Miner, we’re in for a treat, especially considering their previous work on top-notch comedies and series over the last decade. This excitement brings back memories of when I first learned about The Good Place, and just look at how amazing that series turned out!
What are your thoughts on Poehler and Schur's new series news? Are you excited like me? Leave a comment.
