On Monday, NBC became the second broadcasting network, following CBS's announcement last week, to disclose its schedule for the Fall television season. Which shows are experiencing changes, where will they be positioned, and which will be postponed until midseason? Let us proceed with the details.
NBC officially announced on Monday the renewal of "Brilliant Minds" and "The Hunting Party" for a second season. The medical drama will continue to occupy its Monday night slot at 10 p.m., following "The Voice," while "The Hunting Party" will assume the timeslot previously allocated to the recently cancelled "Found" after "SVU." Both dramas have been granted full-season orders, encompassing a range of 18 to 22 episodes.
The Voice and the new unscripted competition series On Brand with Jimmy Fallon will keep Tuesday night warm until the NBA takes over mid-October. New episodes of On Brand will air on Fridays, so Fallon will have two hours of primetime.
The sophomore comedies St. Denis Medical and Happy's Place are being held in November. St. Denis will open a new Monday night comedy block, at which The Voice will be reduced to a single hour. Happy's Place will once again take up residence on Fridays at 8 p.m.
NBC has announced that it has ordered the Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe comedy, "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins," to be one of three half-hour programs scheduled for two available timeslots in November: Mondays and Fridays at 8:30pm (it will be marked TBD down below). Additionally, two more pilots- the cheerleading comedy, "Stumble," created by Jeff and Liz Astrof (known for "Trial and Error"), and an untitled project from Sierra Teller Ornelas (recognized for "Superstore" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine")— are currently in production this week, with decisions expected to be made by June.

There seem to be just a few minor adjustments to NBC’s schedule, mainly with the addition of the NBA and shifting comedies from Tuesdays to Monday nights this November (NBC hasn't had Monday night comedies since the days of Mad About You and Caroline in the City were on). I was surprised that Brilliant Minds got renewed since I thought shows like Suits LA would have been picked up (what a shocker, it wasn’t!). On a brighter note, I'm really excited that The Hunting Party is returning for another season!
What are your thoughts on NBC's new fall lineup? Like it? Hate it? Leave a comment.
