Recap: DMV "Blindspot"

When an inappropriate rocket appears on the DMV hygiene posters, Barb is determined to find the culprit putting spaceships on them. Here's a recap and review of DMV, "Blindspot."

It's the start of cold and flu season, and Barb hands out new stay-healthy posters featuring a raccoon diligently washing its hands. The problem arises when someone draws "rockets" on the raccoon's hands and all around it. Everyone but Barb realizes the drawings are inappropriate, while Barb insists they are just spaceships.

Naturally, Gregg is convinced the culprit is Vic. The two stay together, staking out the undrawn poster, waiting for the prankster to strike again. They fall asleep on the job, and when they wake up, Vic has a rocket drawn on his head. Barb sees Vic's head and calls an emergency meeting.

Since Colette's feelings for Noa still remain, she seeks help from Ceci, who has a creepy voodoo collection of DMV staff and the office itself. Ceci helps Colette cast a spell by having her place a photo of Noa, tied with a red string, in the freezer. When Noa finds it, he mistakenly thinks his unstable ex is stalking him again.

Worried, Colette tries to distract him and gets Ceci to falsely admit she put the photo there. However, when Noa learns that Ceci didn't do it, he realizes he'd hoped the stalker was his ex because Colette is, sadly, "not his type." Yikes! In exchange for Ceci's confession to Noa, Colette must admit to drawing the rockets. She confesses, but then the mystery is finally solved when Gregg and Vic find the real culprit: a small child who was drawing on the poster. They were actually just rockets!

"Blindspot" was a good episode that successfully mined humor from inappropriate jokes, thanks to sharp writing. However, it was certainly cringey at times (especially with Barb's complete "blind spot" until the end).

Colette is becoming a character I genuinely enjoy. Her attempts to improve her relationship with Noa are constantly hilarious because they always end up crashing down and making things worse. However, the episode concludes with a subtle moment that offers a glimmer of hope for the two (if you are a Colette and Noa fan) that might lead to a future coupling. I also hope Ceci's character gets more screen time, not only for her career goal in home marketing but also for her creepy, totally funny voodoo replica of the DMV office and staff. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

What did you think of DMV? What do you think is Colette's next (and hopefully less magical) move in trying to win over Noa? And what was your favorite detail in Ceci's voodoo office setup? Leave a comment.

You can catch DMV Mondays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.
